Do both of them drive so you can check them out? If the red on red doesn't pass , otherwise I like that one!

Not a big T Bird fan, especially a 64, the red one gets my pick as well. Gene

I pick the Mercury. How bad is the rear in it?

  8. The Montclair needs the diff or diff bearings done
Other then that new tires new brakes a year ago staryscsnd runs fine

The t bird need rear leafs not a fan of the body style but the interior on the bird is the cats ass
And lowered with some nice wheels they look good

The Montclair’s were I’m leaning but the rat pack over here calls it a “Boat”

Not sure if I’m fucked or if I’m dealing with a bunch of bmw lovers !!!

Hard to loose either way, but the Merc is pretty unusual. T bird is cool, but I would lean to the Merc.

  12. Bird,just to stir the pot.I have a '66.

  13. The Merc.... not a common car, and pretty much the very last of the fins. A good used 9" third member and you're in business. And if that's the original motor, it's a 390; Mercury dropped use of the 352 in '62.

  14. Mercury, no contest!

Least amount of rust first. Merc should be a 390. I thought Bird first but like the Merc more after looking at it.

    Thanks for asking my opinion,

Lowest rust first is right. All else being equal though I’m for the ‘Bird.

  18. I like the Merc also....its different and has some great lines..

  19. The T-bird looks like it's been repainted, and not all that well. I'd be suspicious about what's under that paint (or even more so, the vinyl top). The Merc looks to be more original other than the few obvious mods. And rarer; Mercury only built 6400 Montclair fast-back coupes in '64. Not many of them left today...

Lose that floorshift and console and add that 3rd member in the Merc and you're in business.

Take the bird. I had a 64. Most comfortable car I have ever owned. Always regretted having to sell it.

If it were me I'd take that Merc . Maybe think about which one would be best for resale cause you know someday that will happen . I don't know what a 64 t bird is worth but I have a 60 that I finished and I would almost have to give it away to get rid of it . Just my 2 cents.

  24. I love the TBirds so I would lean towards that. But they are unibody and if there is any rust present it might sway me towards the Merc which has a frame. They look pretty close in value and in looks so like others said, I would let rust and condition be a big factor

Something else you might want to consider. If the Merc has the rear end trashed, I would wonder how hard the entire driveline was thrashed and what condition the rest is in.

    I vote Merc
It would look great lowered 2 inches and with 18 inch wheels. It will draw a crowd everywhere you go.
