yblock292 Builds a '51 Ford Kustom!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by drjones96, Dec 19, 2011.

  1. Jack asked me to start a thread about his '51 Ford. It's going to be a pretty slick ride. I'll start from the begining of what I've got pictures for. Jack had this car for a long time but didn't do anything with it. Then he sold it to a guy. Then this guy was getting married. He called Jack and wanted to sell the car back to him. Then Jack had Hub chop it (who did a hell of a good job).

So I'll kick this off with a bunch of photo's of it being chopped. There were like 300. I narrowed it down to 45 of the best ones (the ones I thought were good anyway).

  2. Here it is after some body work at Chaotic Customs. We all got together for play a game of lift this heavy ass body off the frame and set it on the dolly. Jack supplied the beer. :D

  3. And Here we are back for more beer. This was on 12/18/11. Jack had the frame blasted, put a rearend under it, 4-link, bags, new brake lines and the works. Motor mounts set up for a 302.

Thanks to all the guys that have helped on the trip, i bought this 51 about 20 years ago less motor and tranny, with hopes of some day building a kustom. About 5 years ago i bought my 50 at the lonestar round up and sold the 51 to a buddy of mine. Anyway Hub Harness and i started talking about choping the 50 and about this time the guy i sold the 51 to decides to get married and sells me the 51 back. So Hub and i make the deal and off it goes. Will be going to chris carlson , Chaotic Customs, first of the year for some more stuff, then back to me for electrical, engine install and that kinda stuff. Then headliner, glass, back to chris ,for final paint. Hope to have her on the road next year!

and a special thanks to drjones who is doing the build thread for me. Some more stuff about the ride, full 65 t-bird interior, 54 plymouth savoy trim. Built triangulated 4 bar with bags in the back, mavrick rearend. Did the frame and all the stuff with POR-15, will have a new 302 and AOD, should be fun! Hell i gotta go get busy!

  11. OK so I went back to the top and fixed a historical inaccuracy. :D I wish I would have gotten a shot of the frame before you dropped the body on it but I was late to the party!

  23. I gotta run out tomorrow after some stuff. If you want I can swing by and we can roll it out and take some side shots with the skirts.

    Kool, photo master!

  25. So, you do have to alter the tunnel on a 51. I didn't know for sure if I was gonna have to, but it looks like it. Thanks for the pics, it's looking really good.
