I didn't see a blower or turbo inlet - SO what are the spring s and burst panel / door for ? Also what is the advantage to bushing the lifter bore down to use the y block lifters ? Wider foot so a more aggressive ramp / or take advantage of the cam profile you have ?
    Again impressive.

  11. You may have noticed the top plate on the intake is removable. The burst panel is for potential future supercharging – we can just swap out the top plate. And yes, the y-block lifters give a wider foot for more aggressive cam profiles.

Blowers for everything. And I’ve never seen a case where it wasn’t for the better. I drove all the way across the country to get mine back IMG_2072.jpeg

You should be able to measure them and buy them individually. That's what I did on my 270. Rock Auto , Summit etc.

I'm not sure what's going on with this engine. Using the core plug holes for extra coolant flow?

I suggest brass. It is disconcerting to find a leaking corrroded steel plug at the race track.

Measure and see if it corresponds to a NPT pipe size, tap it and install square or socket pipe plugs. I have screwed cast iron plugs in SBC decks before decking.

Would there be any advantage to running with the tailgate down?

Many GMC’s at Bonneville have used this style system when they have a crossflow head. The Meziere pumps today are way more efficient along with many others than we used from JABSCO. I’ve used 2 or 3 of the expansion holes and used various sized orifaces to get the coolant flow correct. We didn’t use much dyno time to perfect because of running fuel so it was done mostly on the fly with exhaust temp. John is doing an excellent job with his engine and I’m sure the results will show it.

  29. The day after Christmas begins the final assembly of the 302 GMC. The crank is in and torqued to 110 pound feet the rear seal was tight when installed but has loosend up with rotation of the crank assemble. The assembly lube is very thick and sticky when it's cold lol 20241226_145553.jpg 20241226_145607.jpg
