I found this board during a search for parts. I'm building a cadillac 346 flathead, and finding speed parts are like finding hens teeth! Not to mention the fact that they are worth there weight in gold...

Since i joined this site, i've been pretty lucky. I was able to talk to cyclonekevin, and obtain his heads for my project. Talking to him led me to barry burrell, and now i have a 2x2 intake coming. A few posts by fiftyv8 led me to one of his custom timing covers. An email address provided by enbloc led to finding a custom cam-damn near impossible to find.

Several tech threads have answered questions about disc brake conversions, hidden hinges, 6 volt to 12v conversion, and countless other questions that i had.

And i've had the chance to talk to and meet some super people!

    Thank hambers!!!

Post here to tell us all what the hamb means to you, and what it has done for you.

    sure parts are great but,
the knowledge and experience of the HAMB members couldn't be found all in one place anywhere else.
every day there is something amazing to read and follow

    Paul,

you are right, of course, about the knowledge.
My post may lead some to believe the parts were the most important thing to me, but i was just showing examples. I do value the information, and used the tech threads as an example. I also spoke of the people that i've been able to meet and speak with!

The hamb has helped me in so many ways its ridiculous. From finding parts iv'e been looking for for years, to getting information on interchangability of things, up into information on what will and wont work in certain cases, and why... I dont knowhow i dd it before the HAMB. I trully love this place. Also it keeps me from going insane and kiling everybody when im at work with all the quality reads

  8. Tons of tech threads, AWESOME photos on here, and good links to good folks for trading parts. Been here for a while and it's been lots of help.

The collective brain trust of this forum is amazing. When I first started lurking here I knew just enough about building a hot rod to be dangerous.I started reading all the Tech articles and build posts and have learned so much.I have boxed my Model A frame, built new crossmembers, replaced all the floors, recessed my firewall, and done a lot of patch panel work.I could never have done all that on my on.I'm proud to be an Alliance member and will always be one.All new guys that come here need to read, read, and read some more.Find out how this place works, you'll be glad you did.

Good people. All of us. Even the guys that'll get carried away and blast you for something are good people.

And some of those people are above and beyond what we would call good people. Guys that will drive three hours out of their way to bring parts to someone stuck on the side of the road, who they've never met in person, just because they share a common interest in something that is so much more than a "Hobby".

And more than some of these people will give money, parts, and time to help an Awesome, hard fighting kid build his first Hot Rod. Need I say more? HAMBANDY encompasses the spirit of the HAMB.

As far as how the Hamb has helped me? I couldn't think of where to begin.

Nothing in the automotive world compares to receiving prayers and well wishes from friends worldwide. My brain tumor posts sum it all up.

My question to you is, how can I return the favor and help the HAMB? That, my friends, is the question of the day.

any question about just about any old car subject can be answered here.

also because of the HAMB my event photos have been in 2 magazines as well as a photo on the HAMB calender.

somebody should have thought of this 10 years ago:D

I have more gearhead friends than I ever have.

When I was a kid I was always looking for guys that were ate up as I was over cars. None to be found in our town. But, here.......all of you are ate up.

Parts relays, parts in general, tech help on topic and off topic. Shoot, I have pm'd guys about my washing machine. (Thanks Jerry)

There are more experts on this board than any collective place you could ever visit.

  17. As an FNG, the HAMB helped me get over my fear of rejection... haha.. seriously though, tons of information and lots of cool people. It also has given me the courage to tackle some tough projects.

But hey, since you asked......... I've gained lots of technical knowledge around here. Plenty of really great friends, bought and sold parts and a couple-O-cars even.

Even more amazing for me to learn is artwork: I'm not very artistic and can't create in my head and make it flow down into my hands. Then someone like Mart comes along and makes a column drop. Wait, not makes - sculpts a column drop. Sculpts it out of the same shit I have laying in my yard. I couldn't have done that 3 hours ago (when I read that post). The HAMB may make an artist out of me yet!

  23. Many things from learning something knew every time I come in to hooking up with old friends. But what has helped me the most? Is understanding that the HAMB is not just another hot rod forum but a Brother/Sisterhood that jumps at the chance to help another that's in need. From instruction to assistance, from HAMBAndy to a woman in need of a installation of a transmission to coming to the assistance of a member who is in need of help after the loss of his child.
    I'm glad I joined.

In a nutshell, the HAMB opened my eyes and my mind. It helped me live and think outside the box. It helped introduce me to new friends who share my love of the automobile. It is and always will be a treasure. Many is the day that I log on and just read. Soaking up the knowledge of those who have made the journey before me. Sometimes I laugh and there are even times a thread has made me shed a tear or two.

As far as sites relating to the hobby goes, the HAMB is a treasure. Nuff said.

  27. I guess it is a place where I get to exercise my hot rod mind, collaborate with people who have similar interests and to also become part of a community that has a huge heart on one side, but on the other hand can abuse the crap out of idiots that don't get what we're all about or threaten our existence. I've learned a TON from others . . . try to help out as much as possible and learn something almost every time I login. All in all . . . it is a community that I'm proud to be a part of . . .

The HAMB helped me by a member brought up the subject about DOT dates on tires. He had a blowout at speed and rolled his street rod injuring his wife.He was like me thinking the tires looked good. I never would of thought to check mine on my custom because the tires looked new. After reading this on the HAMB and checking they were actually 8 years old and both front tires had a bad crack next to the inside bead (junk and dangerous).I immediately replaced them with new. THANKS H.A.M.B.

One time a few years ago when i was about 15 i was chopping my car in my garage with only a couple dim lights and a bunch of HAMBers saw the pics and all chipped in so i could buy more lights. It was such a nice thing, touching in a way
