It's a good story but....... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=691515&highlight=wwii+spitfires
For what its worth, my dad, now 94, drove a fuel truck over the burma road in WWII. Hauling fuel for the Flying Tigers. Some great stories. He'll love this.
Glad you posted. I missed it the first time. I hope they follow up with what they find..Maybe a storage wars WW2 edition when they open the containers.
Burma has a special place in my heart, cause my Pops was stationed there in WWII, as a weatherman, in the Army Aircorp. Mom recently passed away as well, so we are cleaning out the house and I found ALL this cool literature on Burma, he kept over the years. Funny how they called them "Japs" in the text. We've come a long way. Thanks for the comments. JT
I'd rather see a double post than have someone hold back posting. Thanks to themoose for posting the link to the first post on this discovery. Bob
I hope this works out better than it did for the guys that tried to save a B-29: Check out this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u4YBwjQTds&feature=youtube_gdata_player
This is an older story but equally just as cool. About a B17 that went down on it's maiden flight. http://www.theswampghost.com/
Well that was a kick in the balls story...dammit. The cool hard working guy dies, the plane is fucked, ruined my morning...
