My driver side window regulator gave up the ghost the other day, stripped the original gears on my 32 five window. I got a new one from Bob Drake and it appears to have the same dimensions but when it try to install it I get about 3/4 in. from the mounting holes and everything binds up, it's too tight. There's got to be a trick to this. Anybody know what it is?
dude I dont know the problem,. but I did ask a drake rep about regulators for my 40.. as it turns out all their stuff is made overseas.. maybe thats at the root of the problem???
i'd like to see a knowledged tech article on them in general. every fucking car i own has messed up regulators, and i aim to fix that problem with the impala this winter. dunno what it is, looking inside the door panel, there's so much you can't see. i always just ignored the problem and helped the windows up and down rather than deal with it! ha. i'd like to know a bit about how they adjust, etc myself.
