Hot Rods wtf is- was this thing ?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dirtbag13, Jun 12, 2013.

  1. See, now if the car actually looked like the last photo, people would be in love with it.

It never ceases to amaze me how something that's half apart or less than pretty, people think it's junk, when all it needs is a little cleanup and assembly or a coat of paint to be a car people would actually want.

  2. Needs square headlights........

:D Makeup and lipstick on a pig still = A pig. Maybe a tiny bit easier to look at, but still a pig. :)

  4. Great photoshop finish. Nice work.

My eyes tell me the hood is about 5-6 times longer than the cowl. Using that as a reference That's about 80+ inches. Those Louvers aren't little either. 50" over is 230%.
That's also 50" on the wheelbase of 103 or almost 150% plus whatever is sticking out

Approaching Duesie proportions only on the front.

What colour should it be and white walls? Looks better with a chop and louvers now.

I was thinking along the same lines....only silver with blackwalls, black wheels and a darker oxblood leather interior. I do like a nice, deep dark red, though.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to paint in Pshop yet, as I literally just started using it last week....but give me a few weeks to learn. I could always do an oil painting of it, though. :D

Well, since I spent the better part of the day working on this image rather than on the canvas that's currently perched on my easel, my eyes have pretty much gone cross-eyed. I will say, however, that I do like my interpretation of what that heap of parts on page one could ultimately become. Is it the end all be all? Hell no! I think I came up with at least forty different ways I could have approached it.

That car is obviously not to everyone's tastes and I get that. But I'll forever be an optimist....and I still think that pile can be turned into a nice hot rod.

  13. thanks for the time you spent, i bet you made some believers.

  14. Nice job there for sure and yes thanks for the time.
    Good practice though huh?

If someone actually built the car into what Ruben Duran created, I would walk past a lot full of ''normal'' hot rods to look at it.

Sometimes i love this site. Other times i run into threads like this and realize that i probably would choose not to socialize with the majority of the people who post here out in the real world...

    Nice concept!

  25. We've all been having a good time, but I think the point of this exercise is that one can take something that conventional opinion considers a P.O.S., and with enough imagination, can make a decent hot rod.
How many of these projects do we see at every swap meet and stop long enough to try to visualize what could be.
In the mean time, boys will be boys, and we are having fun. Un mas cervesa por favor!
