Sorry they treated you so rudely. What got in their craw? There is no excuse for that behavior. There are plenty of other venues.
I’ve heard many stories of staff at events getting a god complex and being very rude to folks. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. Glad you didn’t let it affect you too harshly.
We call that “parking lot attendant syndrome “. It is where someone who generally doesn’t have any authority over anyone suddenly has power over everyone. Glad to see he didn’t ruin your time.
And did you ever find out why there was a bug up his butt? I’ve known a few people that act like asses because there head is so swelled that they think they have it all figured out and when a guy makes a suggestion there Mangina gets flared up because it wasnt there idea or your trying to sabotage them.
So…were you just present at last year’s event when this happened? In the pits? Arrived too early? Just curious.
Sometimes you have to call people like this on their bluff. When the organizers find out the hard way why their extremely obscure, albeit awesome event does not have any press coverage, they’ll cut that “mountain of a man” down to a molehill.
Joey, did you ever talk with any of the movers and shakers of the event, they have the wrong guy working the area where you were, you had the press pass, you were representing 4 different publications and that's not enough for him? Plus you had logged a lot of flight time to cover this event, something is very wrong with their personal, communication leaves a lot to be desired. I'm a old fart but if they treated me like that I wouldn't ever spend another dime to attend the event. someone needs to be held accountable. HRP
You should have included this in your coverage! I’m sure once the organizers read about it there would of been some questions asked of there personnel!!!
Joey, as others have said, you should have gone to the top, and told them of your mistreatment. I am quite sure that they want the coverage that you would provide to the 4 magazines, and not the treatment that you got.
I think this is one of those can't win situations. If you go above his head, they think you are pulling the "don't you know who I am?" On the other hand, they don't know what they don't hear. Each person has a whole life they have lived leading up to that point and some grace should be allowed, but the TROG is trying to reflect a simpler time. Sounds like the word gentleman in the name was forgotten. Provided you weren't posing a danger to yourself or others, a calm word would have carried the day. BTW, I always call that mentality a hall monitor syndrome.
Maybe you really were in an area that you weren't supposed to be in, maybe there was some miscommunication prior to the described events, would be interesting to hear the other guy's side of the story to get the whole picture of what transpired.
Maybe this guy? I saw this picture in a recent thread on WildWood. Big guy, black "T" shirt and sunglasses.
Not everyone has had a warm and fuzzy experience down Cape May in the past. It's a massive event with lots of "help" Some are not helping at all.
Hey everyone, thanks for always having my back. This was in 2021 and, as far as I know, the individual isn’t working with them anymore. I’ve had so much fun at T.R.O.G. on the West Coast that I pretty much forgot about this until last week.
