I have this shoebox with no motor or trans but everything else is done, guy wants to trade for this truck that is (supposedly) a driver. The car has sentimental value to me, but I dint have the cash to get another flattie for it, would you trade?

Hidden damage, rust, etc, the shoebox is worth more without a motor than the truck with a motor. Hands down.

If you want to lose the shoebox, sell it and buy a truck.

I like 4 doors I'm not a 4 door hater buy no means but a car not running for a driver in a heart beat. It also depends on the meaning of the car to you... Only you can place a value on your car.... just my .02

If you gotta post a poll you probably don't want to trade.

If the car holds sentimental value then not a chance. You WILL regret it eventually. Dosn't matter what the trade is for in my opinion.

I like that style truck so I would. Being that the car has sentimental value to you you may want to keep it around, once it is gone you may not ever be able to get it back.

What would you use more? IF the truck is a runner, trucks are handy to have.

Hell no, i would keep that shoebox. Its a cool cruiser when it'll run. That truck is just eh. Plus you dont know all the hidden damage, rust, or work it might need down the line. Maybe it'll need more money than what your shoebox needs. PLUS it has sentimental value, but if your thinking of trading it for a truck, then it must not be that sentimental.

    good luck...

That's a tough call, and I am a chevy guy. The truck looks real clean and original and they are a blast to drive. but your ford is real looker also. I guess my question is do you need the truck as a driver or transportation? If not pass on it for now and wait to fix the ford. I guess this means I wont vote. Cause I don't know....John

i'd like to have something old on the road thats not my '57, as kind of a "beater". I already sold the shoebox one like 12 years ago, it went to the west coast and came back one day. My buddy bought it not knowing it was my old car. Now I have it back.

If that gas pump in the picture is yours you could sell it and buy a flathead. And a tranny. Keep it.

I traded my cherry '50 Desoto for it back when I was in high school, Didnt know why I wanted it because it wasn't as nice a car, but it reached out and "grabbed" me. Flash to this year, my grandpa finally buys the '58 Buick he's wanted for like 20 years. But he's 85 years old and cant work on it. Feeling overwhelmed he decides he just cant do it anymore after his heart attack. My delima is, let him sell it, or sell my shoebox and buy the Buick from him and finish it in his honor? Since it's his dream and all, so both cars are sentimental to me. I've already had to part with 2 other sentimental cars that meant a lot to me, one was the '50 Chevy he helped me build for my first car, so I feel like the Buick is MORE sentimental. It's also super rare because of the options. Cars are drawn to me for some reason, does that make sense?

If it was me id be keeping that shoe box
but its your car and its your call

  30. Trade the shoebox for the truck and use the truck to take your grandad out every Saturday for breakfast and chase parts for his buick. Let him keep his buick, one day he will give you the keys. Whichever vehicle you choose, I think doing the buick with him will provide memories that will last with you forever!
