Record runs went just fine, thank you Mr. Bishop. I just did another post on World Finals. It's in there. Wayno
It sure was a blast up there! Too bad I could only be there for 1 day!! And even a bigger bummer that al my camera equipment got stolen in Vegas on the way to B'ville..! It was nice meeting you Mike! Good talkin'! I'll post some pics in a week or two, when I'm back in Europe.. Maurice
Sir Anthony rode the camera-car bike several times and I reckon that was a bit of a thrill, with the front wheel tied to the boom and the rear rolling on the salt -- 70-80 mph with the sound and the vibration of an actual ride . . . and no control over the scooter! BTW, Hopkins is a regular guy, very much unaffected by his success and status and title. Maurice -- Good meeting you as well. Damn shame about your camera gear.
Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing them. Man I wish I could have been there to see that. What a gorgeous bike....
Glad you enjoyed the words and pictures. For the record, I had nothing to do with the other thread that hi-jacked my title and added "Part Two," nor the series of one-picture threads without captions or explanations. Mike
Mike, Sorry about that. I just thought that I would bring over some neat pix from the landspeed mailing list. Chris Nelson Oh yea, I always look forward to your post's. Half the time I have to search "av8" to find some of your great information that you share with us.
Great series of pics from the WFI filming! You're right...it was a real long stretch of real long days. I had my 64 Chevy C10 out there as a vintage vehicle, too. It's parked by the observation tower in the 7th photo down from the top. I got a heck of an insight into the making of a movie (this was my first time) and learned a whole lotta stuff...including about the cat herders. I didn't do any "extra" work, but I sure saw them puttin in some very long days. I took a lotta pics and put them on my web server here. All in all I had a great time, although I wish I'd seen the Burkland Streamliner's 400+ mph record run. Thanks again for some great pics. Ray http://www.chevyasylum.com
I saw on the network news a couple weeks back that their was a helicopter crash while filming. If I remember right their were no fatalities.
Sounds like they are filming down here currently, I was talking to a guy I sold some stuff too that lives down there, his old man new Burt and owned ealry Indians at the same time etc, I think he was going to go down for a look too...
I keep thinking of Anthony Hopkins saying: "I'm having an old friend for dinner!" I hope this movie breaks the mold for him. He's a hell of an actor. Thanks for the pics and the play by play. See ya on the salt.
Here's a film review that appeared in yesterday's Daily News. The film is playing in Century City only for Acacdemy Award qualification. DW http://www.dailynews.com/film/ci_3283895
