  1. Yes it's Swenglish!
Moved the radiator a bit forward to let the hingeaxle go free, started with the air scoop and bent some 8 sqm (72sqft?) alu for the bed and engine cover.

:eek:NO WAY! I have tried to find pictures of a truck like yours for years! There is a guy around Maryland that was pushing me hard to put the engine in the bed and I wanted something to go off of. I definitely have to check out the youtube video too!

:)It's really coming together now. You will be out in the sun soon.;):D

  4. Sheet metal forming... so easy to write (?), so hard to do.

Had the ambition to form the inner fenders on the bed by hand in alu...
Realized that I had to do it in one piece, since I cant weld alu...

I'll spare you the pictures of the result...

    So I cheated!!!
    Again!!!

    Did the old trailer-fender-trick.
Cut out the sides, welded them together and added a piece of sheet metal to cover the opening.

    Well, it works!

Also continued to work with the overall shape of the bed.

:D:eek: Hi Toni.Outstanding build. With all of his out of the box engineering, the next thing you know he will be figuring out how to rig a GPS to a navigation device for an auto pilot to drive the truck so that he can read"Rodding at random"
as he goes down the road.Uhh oh.Better shut up before he gets MORE ideas.Hehehe.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Toni let me start out saying that your truck is outstanding and workmanship is too. I have my late brothers mid engine(396) 65 Corvaire and the radiator is in the back, always had trouble it, would sit and idle all day and not over heat but start down the road and the heat would start to build till it would over heat, i had fans every where and over 200 louvers in the trunk lid,and still over heat, than one day of frustration i unbolted the trunk at the hinges and put some 3" blocks under the front of the trunk lid behind the rear window, finely problem solved that directed the air over the radiator. Now to your truck, i watched a program on tv about gas mileage on trucks that had the tale gates up they showed that air in the bed would make some kind of a vortex and push the air out of the bed or past, my hopes is that wont be a problem with yours. keep up the nice work .......Jack

  16. Thanks Jack.
There's gonna be an air hatch in the bed, just above the radiator witch will open when a certain water temp is reached. Depending on how the air will act, as you described, I will also mount two additional 5" air hoses from the inside of the rear fenders to feed the radiator.
But Im pretty nervous how it will work...

well Toni, this will be my second time for this response i deleted the first one:mad:. It sounds like a good plan,if that don't work you could have a plan #2, you have a front to put the radiator if there's room for piping to the engine. The Corvair will have a activator to open the trunk, it also has two fans on the radiator for in town traffic,i didn't want to cut up the frontend for the radiator, i want to keep it stock, but it's hard to hide a big block with short exhaust. good luck with your build i'll be a watching,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Jack

I know. He is such a good sport and I think he enjoys the direct jostling. I'm happy he tolerates my sense of humor. Not every one does.:D:D Too many here on HAMB are sour pusses and no fun. But thanks for the heads-up.

Only hand tools used. (Goes for the whole build)

Tubings are exhaust pipes, but don't tell anybody...!

  27. Found a way of fabricating some taillights...
Exhaust pipes and old Mini lights. Will be four of them, the lower pair slightly shorter.

Very cool way to do the taillights...and who cares if you use exhaust tubing for something other than exhaust...that's simply old time hot rodding...and you qualify for the title of "home builder"...not "pro"...

The truk is coming along nicely...
