ok so my new keyless "brain" has built in relays but they arent strong enough. so how do i wire a regular relay so that it has a possitive trigger?
I don't have a relay in front of me, but its easy enough. Start with a typical 5-tab bosch style relay. Tab #'s 85 & 86 are the tabs that "latch" the relay. If you want the relay to be a positive trigger, ground tab# 85 Use tab#86 as your postive trigger input-this is whatever switched 12volt positive wire you need to trigger the relay If you want your relay to provide 12volt power(positive) to your accesory, run a 12 positive from the battery to tab#30. Keep in mind that you want to run a decent gauge wire(10 awg is usually enough) to this tab, as this is what provides 12volt+ to your accessory when the relay is latched Your 12Volt+ output from the relay to your accessory is the 87 tab. This tab is normally open. If you want the relay to supply a 12volt ground output instead of a + output, ground tab#30 instead of running + power to it If you want a negative triggered relay, supply constant 12volt+ to tab#85, and your negative trigger wire to tab#86 Tab#87a is unused I hope this helps-good luck! Dan
For a SPST relay look for these numbers on the underside 30 Goes to battery power 87 Goes to whatever you are turning on/off 85 Goes to ground 86 Goes to 12vdc switched. this energises coil of relay, when this happens battery power go's from 30 to 87 ,component runs or actuates.
