Technical Windshield Frame Chop Question

I was wondering how hard it is to chop an aluminum windshield frame for a 30 Model A coupe. The car has been chopped 4 inches. Also, does the pivot point have to be relocated or will it work in the original location? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

The cut depends on if the body has been chopped above or below the windshield pivot,preferably on a aluminum you would cut it where the bottom slides into the frame,that way you avoid having to tig the frame. HRP

 

Are those repro aluminum frames assembled the same as the original steel ones? If so, I'd just undo the screws in the top corners, cut the appropriate amount off the top legs, maybe have to bend the legs out a slight skosh, then a couple new screw holes and the thing goes back together. Like HRP said, your biggest worry is the brackets for the swing arms. Maybe they need relocating, maybe not.

 

Remiter the edges . You don't cut through the center ever .

chopped a '30 coupe five inches 20 plus years ago didn't change the swing arm anchors... worked fine, windshield could swing out almost to horizontal...
