Life is a highway...........enjoy. I envy you guys.
sounds like a cool trip-good luck
In our world there are only to possible outcomes. It either will make it or it won't.
BaronvonMike and I gave the old girl the once-over: Changed the oil, flushed the cooling system, packed the tools & tightened everything down. Did a test run, and found out I left the oil canister lid loose about a mile from home when oil puked all over the firewall and down to the exhaust! Ugh...
Got that buttoned up, washed the motor, and I think she is good to go in the morning...
make it or not its gonna be a killer trip! good luck jay & mike.
My brother took off with a few friends today and is going to be In Austin Nevada for the Alviso Roadsters BBQ... Have fun out there Jay!
Sounds like there will be enough dudes on the road that if you need help it won't take long for it to arrive. Man that Pin-up whew!! And what was that address??? LOL>>>>.
You and Mike have a blessed trip, wish i was following you guys there in my ride, i've always wanted to go to Bonneville
Prayers out for the both of you for a fun and safe trip!
Just keep the faith,
Well-- We're back. Oakland to Wendover and home again. 1,300 miles, 1 tube of SPF 50 sunblock, 12 bottles of water, 4 quarts of oil, and countless gallons of gas later!
The old girl did real good-- There was some trans fluid smoking issue that turned out to be little more than an overfilled unit puking on the exhaust. Stop adding ATF and problem fixed!
We ran a little low on motor oil at one point, signaled by a noisy lifter, but again, just a fluid adjustment and we were down the road.
BaronvonMike deserves an Iron Butt award for riding shotgun for our 1 day, 610 mile trek home in the roadster. Sun up to sundown we burned up the road...
But, lets start at the beginning-->

It looks like you guys had a really great time.
just go easy on her
You built a great hot rod. It is probably ready to make the trip again.
that's too cool. a picture of your roadster is in another Bonneville thread here. don't recall which one.
Jive-Bomber ... way cool ... looks & sounds like you guys enjoyed yourselves ... I've never gone the 50 route (always 80) ... I might have to try it for a change of scenery.
bad ass. watched mikes video, looks like it was an absolute blast! congrats.
i love that roadster!
What a great looking Hot Rod! Great to see the trip went well and thanks for the new wallpaper
congrats guys. Bitchen pictures ! I want to put ALL of those rods in the Suede Pavilion at the Sacramento Autorama next year!
It was a blast to say the least!! My first time to Bonneville and it was the automotive trip of a life time. If you have not been to Bonneville, really try to make time for it. There's nothing like it.
I'll add a few more to this thread:
My Bonneville pics are here:

i was wrong,so very,very wrong
i apologize for doubting the old girl
athough i hate to think what that rear main bearing looks like about now
Great shots Mike....glad you guys made it back, and survived Kev & Tracey's visit the other night!!
great shots Mike!
welcome back home boys, looks like you guys had a blast
Did Saphorn make it back okay in his roadster PU?
Thats right! JIVE BOMBER was still BOMBING!!!
Oil pressure remained about 38 PSI going down the road-- She's tired, but I can't get that Caddy to die!~!
Saphorn headed back a day before us, and despite a broken motor mount, his RPU got him home in one piece!
Have you ever tried to sit in that car? Its a contortionist nightmare!!
Saporn is HARDCORE!
My brother got a few pics of yours and Saporn's roadsters... I'll post some soon..
Good to see you boys and the roadster. Always a good time, even better when you don't break down!
