Yes it will fit. It's a 7.5 ring gear, and not all that strong

    Careful there...

Some IROC rears are a funky borg-warner unit that is weak and has nearly no aftermarket support. You can identify these by their 9-bolt diff cover.

get your measure tape out.i think you will fine it is to wide. i have used the 70-81 rear and it will only work with conservative tire wheel combo. the 82 up rear is even wider.

well i will be running a 307 (it was free) and its what i got
so i just need it to cruise low and slow
and its has complete brake setup
    about the width
what kind of rim tire setup is considered conservative?
im still not sure what kind of tires i wanna run

Like already stated 81 and earlier camaro with conservative wheel and tire. A step narrower and a dime a dozen is 4x4 s10.

You're right about that. I have a rear out of an 81 Camaro in my 55 and it was a real bitch getting the right backspacing to put on even 235-75-15 tires on. The 81 is I think 1 inch wider per side than stock and the 82 is even wider. I had to have 4 1/8 backspace on a 7 inch wheel and that just barely made it on the car.

i like the gm metric rear. 78-82 or so malibu.cutlass, regal ect. around 58". you have to clean off the coil brks. fits well under 37-54 chevys. has the common chevy 5 on 4 3/4 bolt circle.
