All the time on here people say its your car, build it to suit yourself. I guess he did. But some people can strike out playing "T" ball.

The 70's and 80's were not kind to so many cars out there. Better that it currently sits like this than crushed. it just needs a little nip and tuck to remove all that F**K! Stay positive and pray for it my friends.

Well.... at least the front tin can be replaced with stock parts. So..... show us the rear end. That's where the "permanent damage " would be

  7. Got our attention didn't it? Isn't that a part of building custom cars? Some people believe any attention is good.

I'd say that they all three hit it pretty well on the nose.
The I gotta do more than the other guy no matter how i looks. Square lights say late 70's or early 80's build though.

Afree with 62 Rebel in that a nose change and a new paint job will fix most of it as long as the back end wasn't messed up too bad.

Porknbeaner hit the main reason so many horrendus "customs" were built during that time frame. The ISCA judging sheet was pinned to the shop wall in a lot of "custom" shops for reference in that they needed X# of mods to garner the most points in the class and ugly or no it was the mod and the finish on the mod that got the points.

  17. Got to chuckle a little bit on that show points note. I wrote an article on a '58 Chevy a few years back. It was called "Scoopy" because of its generous amount of scoops. They kept adding scoops for show points. maybe I can find an early pic of it, seems like they added scoops every year for several years to keep winning.

Here is a magazine cover of the car a Joe Bailon custom

That is a shelf to put the tools and parts on when you work on it. Very efficient!

Maybe it was a James Bond car where you push a button and the front end pops out and starts shooting

Or flips down to reveal a getaway motorcycle and sidecar. The autogyro rises out of the trunk. And, those side pipes are actually the folded in wings of the jet option. This is the real life Chitty Bang Bang

That nose faintly resembles the exteneded bumper on the Back to the Future Delorian that had the bumper sticking out close to a foot past the nose. That may be where the idea came from.

  22. Maybe we should all take a moment to reflect in reverent silence, the grim sacrifices made by that unfortunate '61 Chevy.

It's on the auction site everyone here seems to hate. Here's a pic of the rear it was spared the embarrassment of the front end style work. The ad says it's in Orlando

There are tastefully done Kustoms and there are not so tastefully done Kustoms. If you build a not so tastefully done Kustom, prepare to be buried in it. No one else will love it like you do.

  29. They spent so much on the front end they could only afford 4 & 1/2 tail lights. Mounting them straight cost extra.
