  2. I love to eat and HAMB is good.

Experienced as in turn her inside out and she'll look like a porcupine experienced? :D

I did call a Spade a Heart once, but that was only because it was one of two black aces in a full boat backed by 8s.

  6. you left a pretty good cross section in your post. The HAMB is a diverse place and if someone cannot find something they like they are just not trying very hard or not at all interested to start with. ;)

I really appreciate the " HAMB"--------- myself, because I spent a lots of years working in some remote places & situations, with no place to pursue much of anything but more work!!.., years of 'dreaming' about doing a few things 'someday.' with a few old cars, and having FINALLY achieved a retirement (thought I never would)...I realized pretty quickly, I know 'less' today than I actually thought I did, about ground-up projects:confused:. I do appreciate the help and 'learning,' as I move forward on my projects. I wish I knew more skills than I do, but...I am learning as I go, and fortunately, things slowly come together. I am grateful for the many 'quality' cars others have, for my inspirations....HAMB members keep me doing things ''correctly''......it's much appreciated;)---- Ray

  14. LOL I don't love the HAMB but I tolerate most of you guys, like a handful and love one or two. Well in all honesty the ones that I love are probably about 1%. ;) If you can laugh at my total lack of couth somehow find intelligence in my total ignorance and don't ever want to become like you, then you too will probably fall into that last category. :D :D

On the surface, most people would figure you and I are about as different as two people could be, but a sense of outrageously irreverent humour transcends a lot of boundaries...:p

For a change, try this with beef shortribs, but add some garlic. I been making them that way for years, and MAN is it good!

The Hamb in many ways reminds me of the old letters to the Editor section in Hot Rod and other magazines in the 60's. I am surrounded by jackasses in Prius's where I live and work, and you guys are about my only Tie to the Car world any more.

The HAMB is the best place ever... I tried FB, but that´s just not for me. I check in here almost everyday if time and job allows and can´t imagine how this will ever change...Of course I read more than I contribute, but that´s just because I type some damn slowly , hahahaha
Thanks for all the guys, not only the staff, who keep this place true and running .

I enjoy the HAMB and all the info provided here. Don't do facebook or any of that stuff. Really enjoy Benno's wisdom and comments! Being retired, I am on here daily.

There are all sorts of reasons to like this place. Not in any particular order and I'm sure I'm forgetting some: 1) seeing all the sophisticated things guys are able to do by themselves and with small budgets, 2) a collection of photos that is like no other, 3) very seldom are people negative or judgmental, even if a particular project doesn't suit their tastes, 4) guys who have crazy nice cars are genuinely excited and about simpler projects, 5) all the positive reinforcement and encouragement for others' projects, 6) the layed-back atmosphere, 7) getting to follow projects and feel like we're being part of the build, 8) getting too see such damn cool cars!, 9) getting all sorts of questions answered, 10) seeing all sorts of things we'd never thought of, 11) hearing the stories about how cars were found. One of the coolest projects is the fellow who was finally able to buy deuce coupe from the previous owner's widow and kept in touch with the family, eventually letting the grandson drive the car! (I may have gotten a detail wrong, but this was just a priceless thread). I guess #12 is that there are so many people on here who are super cool, bright and talented.

Damn! Just figured out I forgot a dandy! The editor's stories such as the Lew Thompson coupe. Thanks to those special individuals who put this thing together! It is the small touches, such as getting the history of the stamper along with my HAMB firewall plaque.

Someone once said, '...If I had to explain it, you wouldn't understand it anyway'... ;) I might just try and attempt Mrs HRP recipe.

  27. When I first joined the HAMB, even as late as 2009, it was still kind of a tough place. It reminded me of my high school buddies. We were ruthless with one another but we always had each other's backs when it mattered.
Frankly, I feel out of place in the "real" world any more. I quickly realized The HAMB was a place where things made more sense to me, where there were still men of honor who cared about tradition, history, and making old things go fast. Craftsmen who knew how to do things and build things, real things, in the real world, not just in cyberspace. Men who still marveled at the miracle of machinery, and who understood that on some level that we are preserving something valuable that could be lost and that it is in some ways our responsibility to keep it alive in human memory. Men who appreciated beauty and artistry. Men whose word or handshake was good and who understood that...the sight, sound, and smell of old hot rods is a means to time travel.
