Why do men call cars with women"s name?

After 12 years of hot rodding I've listern to many rodders call their cars by a woman's name..........From sugar,Dotie,queenie,honey.the old lady and so on...I even call my hot rods....Betty-Lou. Luppy-Lou. and Daisy-Lou and Bobbi-Jo. And a lot more names when I was building them or repairing them.......like You Ugly Bi.....ch. Dirty Hoa......d, or You Mother FU......KER ............I learn those names from my father when he repaired the family car in the fiftys in the garage.........Anyway ......What names do my fellow HAMBers call their cars???_

 

It is like with nearly every vehicle, and it started with ships. Naming one after a girl just seems natural. I'm not a guy that gives my vehicles names, though.

 

because if I called my car Tom my wife would think I was gay

I don't name cars either, but, I have been known to to call mine a piece of shit though!

I never swear at my truck, it's an inanimate object, it's all really the fault of the stupid ass that works on it. If you get pissed off at it the joy goes away. I enjoy working on the Old Girl more than I enjoy most things in life. It is a woman because I can not justify mentally looking at and enjoying looking at something that would be masculine. A machine will give you back exactly what you put into it. You have no clearer insight into a person than to look at the art machine they create to ride around in, you can even see how they learn and grow and regress with age.

I love my truck and I love my wife. But don't ask me witch one my girls I love the most. But in the 47 years I have had my truck she has never let my down. And the50 sum years I have been with my wife she has been ok to, and to put up with my shit all this time. One time we went to a show 6 hours in this small cab we got to the motel one of the guys asked how the old girl did ? I told him she did good and the truck did good to. so they are both my girls.

Yeah, cars are female in my world. Only a woman can make me that happy and angry at the same time. Now why do so many hang the phony testicals off th back of thier truck? I wouldn't ride a guy..

 

More so than not I have to refer to my hotrods as being a bitch at times.

 

When I first brought my car home the first thing out of everybodies mouth was "it looks like the car from the waltons"...so we named it Walt. Just stuck for some reason.

I call my tractor the Big Red Tractor Beastie [ 1975 Ver 800]and the Blue tractor [ 1992 946 Ver] Babe the Big Blue Tractor does that count.
