I hate rust, I moved to Chattanooga,Tn from Syracuse,Ny about 3 years ago to get away from it, I'm still getting used to not seeing allmost every car falling apart as they drive down the road..... some people have NO idea what rust is until you head up north..but these are good examples

I have a whole lot of respect for you guys out there in the rust areas ...my 48 dodge has been sitting in my back yard without ANY paint for 3 years ,,,, and hasn't gotten any thing except a little surface rust that comes off with a little steel wool ... the primer on my '63 carryall ,, that's 27 years old ,, has almost all worn off ..it may be time to primer them both ..
IT NEVER rains in Arizona ..

That is exactly what my 56 needs! I've already done the floors--but need a complete cowl bad--anybody got one near So Cal? It doesn't look too bad at first, but it's rusty UNDER the dash!

I have the complete dash and upper cowl out of my 55, its really not too bad above about 8" up. You can see it in the pictures laying in front of the car. The dash is basically perfect and the A pillars are really good too. I have the rest of the 4 door "a" posts too so if yours are gone higher than where I cut it off I have extra posts. Let me know if it will help you out, all the parts that look rusty on yours appear to be good on mine and I'd sell it to ya really cheap.

I had the same issues with my '50 chevy truck.

Usually the worst spots are the ones you'll never see untill its too late.

Yeah , but this is the fun .
When everyone think you ve just had a piece of junk , and put it back on the road , and save a nice car , it s worth .

  20. Plenty of rust here, but not the absolute rustiest!

Me an my 55' Chevy Handyman are staying out of this. There is an entire build thread on the rust.

I just finished fixing the roof skin. Now its onto the inner structure around th windows, and the window frames. Fixing the roof took me almost a year of futzing around to get it to look right!

  22. Looking at all these major rustpiles you guys manage to ressurect makes me look at the rust on my project as easily surmountable!

As bought, during tear down, and now. Not traditional, but I still have it 15 years later and my repairs are still sound.

I know I am reviving an old post but I was looking for inspiration. I may at least have the rustiest complete project...

Frame is good now but I am dreading getting to work on that sheet metal...

That's right it was growing moss or something on the drivers side hehe
