well it looks like someone in Argentina has and from what I can see has done a pretty good job. a 57 year old truck may be hard to come by there. And I think the import duties in Argentina are usually more than the car.
Mh, thats what caught my atention. F1s are not hard to find at all and in many cases pretty cheap. Anyway yeah, it looks pretty good. But the guy is actually selling the molds.., I guess he couldnt sell many kits
With 45 years in the business, it looks like pretty damn good quality parts. It takes a really good set of molds to produce stuff that nice.
Good looking stuff. I'll bet there would be a domestic market for a kit like that under the right circumstances... If it could go onto [and use all the components of] a ranger or S-10 donor, and the costs could be kept down to a reasonable level. $15K for the molds aint bad either, but you would spend an additional $4k to cargo-container it to the states
someone builing a race truck would. unless its heavier than the steel, which has been known to happen
Yeah, might be good for a race truck. Then when you hit the wall with it, you won't feel too guilty about destroying an old truck. Might also be good for someone that lives in some place like Hawaii near a beach, where all the old cars have turned into iron oxide powder due to salt spray.
before I say the pics I thought it might be some sort of F100 Indy car project. A F1 car with a fiberglass F100 body on top!
US Body Works in Florida (www.usbody.com) does the one piece, doors, running boards and rear fenders, but I've never seen the cab offered. There is an F-100 cab in glass, but not the earlier F-1.
If the price were right, it would be a good option for someone looking to re-body a rusty old 4x4 for use in a salty, winter environment. Cool look, zero guilt. -Dave
