im sure this is a dumb question and has been coverd but i cant seem to find anything on the web or on this site for this car..the reason i ask about bolt on kits is becuase i dont have a welding machine..but if i can get them bolted on and drive the car to my buds i can weld them in over there.
my mom has a place in kingman...yeah i know someone makes them for the mustang and the falcon has the same frame(i think)..i found a kit for a 61-54 but not the 60..
http://www.performanceonline.com/1960-65-FORD-FALCON-SUBFRAME-CONNECTORS-SC6065-19765 http://www.dearbornclassics.com/comet-falcon-ranchero-subframe-connectors-1960-1965.html there may be more on here. i'm not being critical or a smart a$$, but all i did was cut-n-paste "subframe connectors for 1960 falcon" and googled it. b-t-w; i'd LOVE to have a 2 door '60 falcon...
thanks for the link..i found those but my car is a 1960..will these kits for on my frame?is there any differance in a 1960 frame and a 63 or 64?
right on..is there a difference between the 60 and the 63 falcon..im asking becuase i dont want to order somthing that doesnt fit..
well, the first link says it fits 60 - 65 falcons. the 2nd says it fits 60 - 65, but later on says 63 - 65 V8 cars; but then adds: "Can Be Modified To Fit 60-62 V8 Conversions"
yes but when you click on the link its says the frame rails are for 64-70..im confused with that add..anyone ever used these on a 60? also the second add,i wonder what kind of modifications theyre talking about..maybe i should email them.
ok i just emailed "dearborn classics"..ill give "performance online" a call tomorrow and see if they can clear up my confusion with theyre add.. if anyone has used these on a 60 falcon, speak up..thanks
I am pretty sure, when I bought mine, 60-63 are the same body and frame. The 64-70 are different. Not sure how they are different, but my results at the time showed they were. Mine were bolt in but I welded them in. the part that sandwiches the frame boxes did not seem to fit as tight as I wanted, although that may be the fault of the previous owner...he had changed a lot of things that I had to fix to make it right again.
so global west and crites were no help at all..the lady from crites said"well we dont have a 60 falcon here so i cant tell you"..i was like "can you ask somebody?"..she said "no,we dont have a 60 falcon here so i cant tell you"..i was like "ok....." but i called summit and they have some but are 200..anyone ever used the subframe connectors from summit for a 1960 falcon?...
I don't know why the ones from Crites wouldn't work, full floorpans fit 60 to 65. I looked at the front unibody rails on my 60 and they look the some as my 62 the transmission crossmember is a little different but very minor.
Here is a set from my employer's website. They are from Global west, and it says they would ship today, which means we have them in stock. It says 61-65 Falcon, and the picture actually looks just like the ones I got. I am confident that these are the ones you would need. As I said before, the "saddles" did not seem to be tight on my frame rails, so if you intend to bolt them on, test fit them, and get you some 1/4" plate to make some shims from. Once I welded mine in, it stiffened the car up noticably, so make sure you put the car on jackstands at all 4 corners, and get the car sitting level, with all the doors opening and closing properly before you install them.
My link did not show up, let me try it again... http://www.jegs.com/i/Global+West/459/916/10002/-1 I am not trying to push business on you, you can buy them from whoever, but just showing they are in stock, and are made by global west...The GW part number is at the top, our part number is lower down, basically their part number + our vendor code for GW...
