Hot Damn...I finally got it finished.:D:D:D:D
My goal was a mild custom '36 that you might see at an Autorama in the early/mid 60s. Customized with lots of detail, chrome and accessories...but not taken too far from a stock body.
I didn't want a leadsled or tail dragger (they were a little before my time). The hot rods 0f the mid 60s indoor car shows that I remember and loved had that "California Rake"...big & little tires ,a dropped axle and a "heavier than stock" engine weighing the nose down.:)

  6. I am wondering if just regular lowering blocks are what you used? It's been a while since I took the rearend loose on my '53 mainline, but it seems like my memory is telling me the through bolts' heads were larger than normal? I could be way off here as sometimes my nightmares mix up with realities

Anyway, just curious, ready to get her cruisin' and looking to see if I need to buy new bolts before leaving her on jacks for my whiny wannabe one-man HOA neighbor to cry on the phone to city hall...

  8. Mine I’m building. This is my first build of a custom. So far I have repaired a ton of rust, I added 55 Oldsmobile headlight assemblies and dash, installed a Gambino kustoms tail dragger four link in the back, a mustang 2 front suspension, S-10 rear axle, four wheel disc brakes, full air ride, a 67 k-5 blazer steering column with a 65 Impala wheel, and homemade floor shifter, and for now 49 ford tail lights. I'm thinking of changing the tail lights out to 54 Lincoln ones. 1FFCAA7F-7081-4AB2-9975-AF0A279F36D0.jpeg 6EE63650-E4F1-45C5-8949-5BBA170FA63F.jpeg 086040D6-F332-4134-9593-B98FCF8C026C.jpeg C33F54F2-255F-448E-8609-55C2286CA24A.jpeg
    Plans are:
    55 Pontiac rear bumper
    56 Chevy front bumper
Parts of a 57 Chevy truck grill to make my own kustom insert
A kustom hand made grill surround
    Chopping the top
A council for around the shifter
And install my new full interior

Looks like a cool build, and not too far away from me, glad to see it. But just so you know, mentioning your late model drivetrain and parts not available after the mid 60's will get it deleted. It's fine if the car has that stuff, but don't post pictures of those pieces or bring it up in a thread. Don't take that personally, and I'm sure we'd all love to follow along with the rest of it. Just a heads up.

I dont think it gets much more custom than my roadster, made from 27 chev capitol roadster quarters, 25 dodge touring cowl, 49 lincoln trunk, model a frame, lincoln 337 flathead, various other makes and models in there.. definitely my first attempt at anything this extreme 20221019_161648.jpg also building a mild custom 53 ford for my old man, nosed, decked, 55 grill etc. 20220603_235143.jpg
