Incredible. I have wanted a G for a long time, just never bought one. They remind me of a praying mantis.
My 1941 9n that I used to cut my yard with. Moved and had to sell it, now just looking for an excuse to get another one. One of those things that I think everyone should own at least once in their life. All original except for the seat. Would sit outside all winter long (Wisconsin) and start right up every spring, even with the old 6 volt point ignition. Like all 9n tractors it had a three speed transmission, but it also had some sort of a high range in it, a shift lever on the left side of the tractor, you can see it in the picture right behind the starter. Don't know if that was a factory option or not but haven't seen another one like it. Third gear high range, you had to slip the clutch some to get it going but it would really scoot! A couple old farmers told me that it was a 2n, the serial number dated it as a 41 model, it had some of the changes that were made on the 2n, but not all of them. Cool tractor, hated to get rid of it.
I think the 9N came out in '39, the 2N in '42 and the 8N in '48. I have my father's '48 8N he bought in '50. I have seen the hi-lo range yours has a few times. Do any of you N guys get the N-newsletter out of New England?
It is pretty comfy, waaaaayyyy better than the original equipment. Got it from Fleet Farm over in Wisconsin. That was in 04 or 05 though so don't know if they still sell them or not.
Dates are correct. A lot of minor changes were made along the way, but an easy way to tell an 8n from the earlier two is that the 8n had a four speed transmission, the 9n and 2n had a three speed.
They still have them and sell online too. They changed their name here to Tractor Supply Co. also Rural King has them. Probably find them on flE Bay too.
That fleet and farm in Racine Wisconsin is awesome and in my opinion way better than a Atwood’s or tractor supply I wish we had one here in misery lol I was introduced to that place earlier this year while at the out a sight drags I know they had a big tractor section and I do remember seeing seats on the shelf not sure if they had the correct one but I’m sure they have an online store but I would definitely check into it Chrome don’t get ya home
I wish my tractor had a hemi but it just has a 360 Amc motor with a 400 turbo in an 1850 Oliver on propane lol Chrome don’t get ya home

My 65 1850 Oliver it’s a typical hot riders tractor with a 360 Amc v-8 and 400 turbo automatic running on propane this tractor was traded into the dealer my dad worked at from 1972-1985 when they closed He installed the engine and trans in this tractor about 1977 as the tractor had a rod tossed through the side of the block but it had a practically new loader on it so dad bought it and installed the engine and trans in it and used it for basically a forklift around the shop it’s still running and works extremely well for me around my shop Chrome don’t get ya home
My IH 706d. Also have an 806 and an H and C Farmall...those are all parked for the winter. The 706 I use to plow snow. If we ever get any...
My new to me Case 930, I believe it’s a ‘65. I have since put a loader on it. Used to plow snow and move bales. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I used my 80 yr old 9N to clear 3 driveways last night while my neighbor struggled to get his year old snow blower going. After I cleared his driveway, I got ot going for him.
