White wall paint

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by kenji, Sep 12, 2009.

  1. I'm having trouble finding cheap 17" bias ply white walls. I see white wall paint for sale on ebay. Have you had any experience with this stuff? Talk to me!

The cheapest can of flat white will do you PROUD!!!
    (I'm talkin' less than $1)
Tape careful and you're in there man.

And if you are really studious?
Sand down any lettering or high spots for a smooth finish and a "clean" whitewall

    (edit)
Whoops, looks like I shoulda said "use the GD search function!!! ROAR!!!"

It's just Snow-Seal or Sealbest white elastomeric roof coating in a different can with a massive mark up. Buy some at the hardware store and save.

I've heard Krylon Fusion works OK, available most everywhere. Prep goes a long way for how well it adheres.

I've had that same paint on my tires for 2 years. The paint has yellowed some but thats character.

I have a can of that white roofing seal and it says right in the instructions to NOT use it on rubber.
Is there something they or someone isn't 'splaining?

Wow, this is a topic that has always been asked, and sometimes flamed beyond belief.
I tried it years ago with Sno-Cote and after one harsh winter in Denver, it "peeled like a white guy at the beach" quote from one Zeke here on the HAMB.

That Krylon for plastic sounds interesting though..

I tried it once and it cracked really bad around the rim and flaked.
