I've been wearing these hats for years, although not white ones. I've always called them "Newspaper Boy" hats. A great place to buy these is from "My baby Jo" in Los Angeles. They have them in exact reproductions from the 30's & 40's, to contemporary ones.

    Anyone remember the Bowery Boys?

  3. They look cool on older dudes, or any LA Roadster member with there white pants and red shirts, but they look pretty stupid on me.

I got one somewheres around here from back in '76....was white once...has a Ford T emblem on it. Commonly called "Stroker" hats also known as Belgian Pidgeon hats. I got mine from my brother who worked for Mr. Roadster back in the mid 70's.

    Hey,

I've worn one everyday for years, and yes in white! People ask me "why
do painters were white?" I says, " so ya can tell the good guys from the bad''!
I get 'um in paint supply stores and at Union Surplus in Pedro California.

I got an order for a dozen leather stroker caps for the HOT ROD staff in the early eighties and had the vendor make 13!

They were called Cow Pie hats around here for some reason. I think I have a black and red leather one with Street Rodder pins on it around here some place.....I'm not going to look to hard for it though!.

70's are you kidding.....Guy's have been wear Gatsby/ snap caps since the 30's maybe even earlier. Lakes racer's wore the white ones alot in the 30's and 40's. Very popular back then with the hot rodders. And now as well for that matter.....Lucky

last wore mine in the mid 70,s, saw them in the 40,s, I never knew the real name for them I thought it was a 'golfer' hat. yea also wore them in the 50,s and they were 'roadster caps' in 60,s 'stroker caps'. not sure of the order, they came and went like a fad. had to wear em backwards in the roadsters, and they still flew off. of course your choice of stuff to sew or pin something on 'em.sounds like they revving up again, I thought they were cool. just havto get old enuff.
