    Hello,

You have to choose which one style you want. Both cars need work, despite the Chevy looking pristine. If all you want to do is to take out the 6 cylinder and replace it with an SBC, while converting it to 12v, then you will have a cherry car for cruising. Also, it is a stepping stone to add A/C, better trans and rear as time allows.

On the other hand, despite what some have criticized as custom modifications, the Ford is a start and then the upgrades to your liking will come into play. But, the one thing is that most of the car is set up how you seem to like cars. As far as a parade, no one will have your orange Ford, while the local Chevy club probably has those refurbished stock coupes like the one in the lot. An orange Ford customwith the v8 and A/C will be somewhat nicer along the parade route. (and definitely in Texas…)

Having driven in a 6 cylinder Chevy during high school and a v8 Ford later on after graduation. The v8 has it over the 6 cylinder by leaps and bounds. There is no substitute for power. But, if the Chevy coupe gets the v8 and driveline, A/C + upgrades, the canvas would be a great starting point to keep on making it a hot rod power with the pristine, outside body looks. The Ford has already done that work, it probably just needs a few upgrades and detailing on the suspension/drive line to make it run and drive like a new car. YRMV

We are all locked in place and thinking about hot rods and customs is a good way to past the time away. But going outside when not necessary, to protest or visit, is not going to help the overall crisis. People gather, people get sick it is simple math. You brought up a good topic to think about and contribute. Good luck in your choice.

  2. Not the only ones, but close. I told my 15 year old son that he won't have to worry about any of his buddies wanting to borrow his pickup since it will be 3-on-the tree. Pretty much a theft device in today's world.
