I collect early mags and I love the 30's-40's Ford pickups. I am trying to collect a bunch for reference. Any of them come to mind? I know the pickups weren't as popular, but I love to look at the different ideas guys had back then.
Yeah, I have few little books. I need to start an index of all the mags, so I can start buying them up.
Some time ago, OK a long long time ago, Hot Rod magazine used to have hot rods in it and quite a few of them were trucks.
I remember seeing a few that had features on trucks mainly. In the 59-62 era. I have always liked the "early show trucks" with the padded tonneau covers, tubular bumpers etc.
Actually, I can recall a heck of a lot more custom trucks vs Hotrod trucks in mags. Although then a lot of lines were blurred.
Oh ya; that bring backs memories of an F-100 I fell for years ago, canted quads, '58 Buick grille, rolled pans with 'vette bumper bars on both ends, tonneau cover with a rolled and pleated diamond insert, and a matching R&P interior; still can almost picture it on the magazine pages.
I am getting ready to build another 1936 Ford pickup and I want this one to look like it jumped right off the pages of a 1959 R&C Cover. Looking for the little details. It will have a few modern conveniences but they won't detract from the overall appearance.
Do you have this one? It may be a little "late" for what you are wanting and I don't know if there are any 30's trucks in it but it is still good for some ideas, especially the details that you mentioned.
