I'm getting ready to drop and drill my axle. The big question is can I drill it first? Since I'm gonna do it myself I would rather take the chance of ruining a $50 swap meet axle instead of a $50 axle + $200 drop... Eric
I've never dropped an axle or had one sent out, but my initial thought is if you take your time drilling an axle and don't go to crazy, it's hard to screw up. If you do it first then have it dropped, they may not guarantee the job OR even worse, if they do it at all, I'm guessing it would be better undrilled. Good question though. Let's see what the pros say! Those were only my unproffessional thoughts.
I'd probably send it to the dropper first to see if it is usable and all before I spent a lot of time drilling.
Chances are, if you drill it first, its gonna get squashed when they try and bend it. I'd drill after its dropped.
