  3. It looks like its 1 stage paint and from what i understand multii stage paint is better and longerlasting, while more expencive and time consuming

  5. hey man,

i think your get a better response if you posted pics of the colours you wanted...ie. a candy apple red car so we can see which colour you're considering for the ride...

Only thing I can add is that I ordered a paint chip page, it took 3 weeks to get it. Read his feedback. Looks like he has had problems getting stuff out.

  9. The black primer looks great....leave it like that until you get it mechainically perfected and all the body work done and gaps perfect. If you have to paint it after that, I guess the terqwuas : )

  10. A lot of solid reds are called candy, I know it's weird.

I wouldn't advise buying any paint off of ebay. Period.

If you are just wanting to play around with colors and you are indecisive, go to a automotive paint store and tell the guy you need a chip board to look at. Before you go and bother the counter man, you need to have looked at some factory colors that you may like. Then you can have a pretty good idea on what years/makes the paint was on.

Look in the phone book for an aircraft coatings company. The use a lot of single stage, solids and metallics. You won't get a candy color ever in a single stage....guaranteed.

Here's a pic of my 53. It's in NJ now.

  12. Unless you have painted a lot before, single stage metallic is not the way to go. Some skill is required to put it on without ending up with tiger stripes and getting the metallic to cover uniformly and end up with a shiny job as well. Base clear metallics are much easier to spray. The base can be sprayed on uniformly and the shine is added later with the clear. Fordnutz.

BTW, the copper is on a 2000 Ford Ranger. It's not a single stage though. It will be a base coat/ clear coat.

  14. Hard to pic a color for someone elses ride.

Go with the copper its a '60s thing.

the darker the colour the more imperfections it shows

the second time I painted my car with some metallic in it it looked good in the daytime but at night in the light you could see these big stripes in it:eek:

    I like the blue though:D

would look good in a non metalic aqua with white trim.

the caddy is a stock late model ford color (paint code FL) that is really close to a candy apple red

    I like the copper.

  19. Copper for sure. If you're working on the cheap, paint your wheels a cream color and pick up some thin trim rings and chrome lugnuts. Have a little more coin...Astro Supremes w/ cheap skinny whitewalls would look killer.

Either way, she'll need to come down a few inches in the front and rear.
