Event Coverage Where's my Pendine Sands fix?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Limey Kid, Jun 15, 2014.

  1. Was great to spend a moment or two chatting with Arno - he was very merry on the Saturday night!

  2. Great to see history back in action...

    Cheers,

    Thanks Mr. er, Bastad.

Old Rusty did me proud. 97.something on Saturday and 98.38 on Sunday. Not shabby for an unblown flatty that hasn't had thousands thrown at it. A good bump from 94 point something last year. I was actually king of the hill in the flathead roadster class on Saturday, surprisingly, but the other lads pulled something out of the bag on Sunday.

Edit: my 98.38 was good for second in class!

  6. Thanks for all the great pics guys. This event reminds me very much of what it must have been like on the So Cal dry lakes when hot rodders were just discovering the experience of official timed events. I'm so pleased that my old hot rod can be part of it!

Brilliant weekend, didn.t think it would be but it was even better than last year, didn't do any prep last year just turned up for the laugh ! This year did a load of tuning and tweaks hoping I would be at least 1 mph faster, was gutted on Saturday running slower than last year but on Sunday managed 3 tenths mph faster than previous best! The old tub has been leaking oil from the rear main for a while now so I was praying the clutch would hold up enough to get me there and make at least 1 run .She must have known as she got there and back faultlessly ,the clutch finally started slipping about 5 miles from home on the return journey !!
Big Big thanks to Neil for all your efforts and organisation ,And to the sidewinders for helping out. Special mention must go to Marco for marshalling all day and DJing all evening both days !!
Can't wait till next year and Gow as well! Heres a few of my pics,Cheers,Chris

  15. My god! If the paint wasn't messed up on the fender, I could swear this is El Mirage in May of 1961. One of the coolest pics on the HAMB in a long time!!

I know this is self indulgent but I think this is such a cool photo for so many reasons. It was taken by Martin Stockton, my old metalwork teacher from high school, who first taught me all the basic engineering skills that have been so important to me. Notice the 'Lowe Bros Racing' t-shirt, given to me by Dean, that I wore with pride all weekend.
