What are some good sources for traditional styled steering wheels in a smaller diameter? I am too tall to roll a 17" wheel, but I want to get something that looks killer in my 50. Thanks!
I can't believe I'm typing this, but apparently some company called Juliano's has repopped the Crestliner wheel AND scaled it down to 16 inches in diameter. Hard to believe, but here ya go: http://www.julianos.com/crestliner_steering_wheel.html
Yes, I too have the same sense of disbelief that I'm posting this, but someone finally posted a question I can answer.15 inch 59 Chevy Impala knockoff; http://www.classicchevy.com/chevy-steering-wheel-15-diameter-replacement-impala-1959-1960.html Found by accident whilst searching for a real one. Wow, for $350, I would expect better than the advertised "Fair" quality...the Julianos wheel looks decent. Think I'll wait to get the chop done and cut the seat down, then see how much room I have.
There's an outfit called Koch's in SoCal that restores steering wheels but they also have a line of smaller stock appearing items. They show up at all the swap meets in the L.A. area but I'm sure you can find them online.
Limeworks is also producing "soon to be released" 16 in. Ford Crestliner steering wheels. He is a HAMBer.
Yeah man, I know what you mean. I just saw it, but didn't advocate the use of it. My genuine 58 cost less. Just trying to help. Paul
There is a company out in the San Joaquin valley that specializes in Chevy 50's 15" replacement steering wheels ($295).I purchased one for my '56 Delray. See pic. They advertise in the back of DRIVE Magazine (866)715-0100. Juliano's steering wheels are much more superior in comparison(if ya got the ducats).
man and i thought 85.00 for my 40 standard wheel was pricey.350.00 wheels ?street rodding is murdering our hobby.
