I have a set of 1954/55 buick gauges that I would like to look into getting rebuilt. They are in good shape, just want to convert them to 12V (if they are not already) and make them work right. The speedo is the main one I need work done to. Want to get the bezel rechromed and the guts refurbished. Thanks to overkillphil for the help IDing the gauges. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=335475

Anyone have any suggestions as to where I should get them worked on or who to take them to?

According to my motors manual 54-55 Buick's had a 12V generator.

I've used Mo-Ma since they were in L.A. and now they're in Albuquerque, NM. They've rebuilt a number of SW gauges for me and never any problems. Telephone number is 505-766-6661. 1321 2nd St. NW, 87102. The FOGGER

Although JC is a Mopar shop, you might call and ask the question. Perhaps he has a referral if he can't help. His Mopar work is impeccable!

You should try Redline Gauge Works, ask for Shannon at 661-259-8891.

He does work for Leno and Foose. His work is excellent and the price is right.

He did a 34 Dodge instrument panel for my highboy by replacing the guts with VDO electric stuff. They look and work great.

    Alliance Vendor

It depends on what you want to do. Redline and Classic do great retro-fits, if you are looking for a restoration, then some others are the way to go. Here in Detroit I have used Bob's in Pontiac. (no affiliation)

Me too. Very nice work, but expensive and slow. As I recall my '50 Ford cluster was $800+ about 11 years ago, and took more than a month on a rush basis.

  20. has anyone tried Pheonix restorations in Davenport Ia-he is always at the Flyin Eyeball shows around the area or Emeis also in Davenport ?

I had a question for anyone here that used any of these companies for their gauges. I am wanting to send in my original gauges and have them cleaned up and made to work on a modern set up rod.

I know there is no set price but what is a good ball park as to what this might run me in price?

Waaaaay too many variables grasshopper...suggest contacting a couple of the vendors listed and send them a pic of what you have and ask them for a ballpark number.
