http://www.daign.com/hamb/imagepages/image513.htm I've seen them on a couple of magazine cars, but have never seen them for sale anywhere. Anyone have any tips? Thanks
It's a Utah thing. "The Beehive State" Have Bo Huff make ya some. Look in places like Hot Rod Custom & Supply if they're still around. They used to have similar caps, but not as rediculous as those.
Those are hand made as I recall. There was a discussion on them a while back. The consensus was that they were handmade and ugly. -Dane
Down by the railroad tracks near the Rio Grande there's a Tbird... Looks like somebody abandoned it there because they had it painted by a color-blind guy. If you go down there late one night with a screwdriver, you can have them real cheap ...
I like them by the way... I think they're fun. And fun is always a tegit way to go. I think they need some more bullets elsewhere on te car though, maybe a bullet grill and flat lens tail lights with a chrome bullet or a stack like the hubcap in the middle, and for once, and only this once, I approve of the spot lights!
to your question : the SWAP MEET is the only place to get them , the one guy who was makin them a guy in southern CA called hub cap mike destroyed the mold and no more to be made by him , he said they did not sell so he smashed the mold after a final run .The only reason i know this is i bought 2 sets from him the last 2 sets he had , and they were not cheap , and nope i am not sellin um . I have seen them for sale on e-bay but hard to find .
[ QUOTE ] Yup DrJ those round spots really show off those SQUARE mirrors! [/ QUOTE ] What mirro..Oh, those mirrors... They aren't square, they are rectangular Those are shape co-ordinated to accent the rectangular license plates! Sometimes I just talk in generalities, and sometimes in the foggy cosmos...
Hah! Funny posts y'all. Seriously though, I kind of dig em'. I like the whole late 40's black wires & black walls & early 50's red smoothies & wide whites stuff as much as the next guy...but you see that shit EVERYWHERE. Just thought I'd toss this one out there and see if anyone knew about them. Besides, my 56 Vic is afterall, bright yellow and white. Not exactly what one would call conservative. Those caps would take the gaudiness of my car to a whole other level.
