I just got into a discussion with a buddy of when the column shift three speed was discontinued. I had a '73 Nova with a three speed column shift, I'm sure they at least went into the late '70s.- just a curiosity The three speed column shift was gone and I didn't even notice until I finished my '53 and my son got in and asked me what it was and how it worked.
I'm a huge fan of three on the tree. They are just not a huge fan of slamming gears. Seems like people think the trucks are auto due to the position.
I would say somewhere between 71 and 76 for the full size GM cars, had a cheap 77 impala come in the shop with a 250 six and no a\c so I got looking in the owners manual to see if a 3 speed was available and nothing.
I'm surprised at the 3-on-the-column vehicles in the '80s! The latest I could think of was Mopar A-bodies in '76 or thereabouts. Live and learn.
81 or 82 F100 here, 300 six cylinder. Not sure of the year, it was a staked trash truck.....I lied to the state with F250 badges to just get a non emissions safety inspection. Yeah, yeah.....I never hugged a tree.
Last one I had was a 80 Ford pickup, 300 ci, 6cylinder with three in the tree. It was a Canadian built truck with the weak frame with the round holes in it.
80s chevy pickups I'm looking for everything to convert my daily driver over to manual column shift it's a 80 c20. There's nothing better than a 3 on the tree if you ask me. My first was a 66 chevy short wide I loved everything about that truck
