History When was colored plexiglass used?

    As mentioned above, I remember it being used mostly in race cars, and wanna be race (street) cars in the 60's. Plexi is very light compared to glass and it was widely used in all kinds of motorsports to save weight (especially when replacing OEM glass in production cars) and of course for creating small, often curved, windscreens. The tinted stuff was just for show and illegal in most states on the street. Perhaps it still is? If I could get some, I'd like it to be the same optical orange used for helmets and night-time driving glasses! LOL. Gary
