When you guys change your plugs and wires, do you disconnect the battery first? I was changing plugs and then thought maybe i should disconnect the battery which i really dont want to do because i have some connectors that are really hard to get loosened.

    What'cha got in there, kid?

I wouldn't worry about it, there's no current to the plug wires when it's not running

I always jack the vehicle up, remove the wheels and put it on jack stands, so it's grounded.

Osha would require you to disconnect the battery cable and put the end in a cup with a lock on it. Makes me glad I'm retired.

  7. Summit have special copper jackstands for that.

  8. might be a good idea to clean, repair or replace your battery cables if the connectors are bad. it should be easy to disconnect the battery when needed.

drop a ratchet onto the hot battery cable on the starter, and you might change your mind!

I don't, but I can see why you might want to on some cars.

In the modern world where everyone is obsessed with safety first, it's necessary to say to disconnect the battery before working on anything. If only to keep a lawyer happy, somewhere.

If it's on the Ford in your avatar it might be easier to remove the exhaust manifolds to get the wires back into the looms correctly.:D Probably one the hardest ones to get right thru those square guides.

Reminds me of when I had my young nephew lick a 9v battery. Then he kept doing it...

What is the old saying ? "There are no dumb questions, just dumb answers ?" We all started somewhere, guys, and I still ask questions that some may find obvious, but if you don't ask, how will you know ?

Ragin, you took the ribbing well, you will do ok here. :)
