My father bought a lot of wheels about 40 years ago and this is a wheel that we have not been able to id. So all you Hambers please use your vast amount of iding ability to help us. We believe it is horseless carriage era. Anybody know what it is?

This wheel is 23" diameter, 25 1/2" OD, 2 5/8" cap with outside threads, and hard rubber tire 1 7/8" tall and 2 1/2" wide.

it looks to be the rear wheel off of a trike. i have a home made trike in my backyard from the 60's with 24" rims, but other than that it looks identicle.

Your wheel is from an 'early-production' 1917
Henway, steam-powered unicyle!! The late '17
Henwey steam unicyles - ie - those built after
serial number 20 - used a single, solid iron; disk
wheel, while the early models - ie - serial
numbers 1 through 19, all used a single 'wire
spoke' wheel like yours. *Fortunately*, no
Henway steam unicles of either type are known
    to still exist D

Is there a website or do you have pictures of what the unicycle looks like? It would be cool to see.

No. Sorry. I wish I did. When the Henway
steam unicycles were banned by Supreme
Court order in early 1918 - and even mere
possession of one declared a felony, under
both the Mann and Volstead acts - all
existng photos and drrawings of them
were gathered up and destroyed and the
    websites all taken down. .:eek::eek::D

Would that wheel have been on the single or dual cylinder model? I have a 1916 single cylinder that is missing the wheel

Make me an offer for it. It would look great on your 1916 single cylinder.

So now that we got the Henway out the way, which is about 2 & a half pounds but you better check with MART3406 as he is the expert, I still want to know what it is from. If we can get it identified hopefully we can get it to someone who really needs it. Any clues??
