Grew up in the late 50's - early 60's and had forgotten everyone running full hubcaps, usually tried to run something off a higher priced car since they were fancier. I also remember quite a market for the early 60's GM wire wheel hubcaps, you couldn't keep a set on a car parked on the street.

Holy Cow Guys ! ... you-all have some really cool and beautiful wheel covers. For 61 years I always tossed 'em in favor of fancy wheels, but I guess at my age now I like them.
    Great pictures fellas.

I didn't know what these were from when I got my first one. Now I have a full set and found out they are off a '59 Oldsmobile. '59 Oldsmobile hubcap.jpg

54's are almost identical to 55's. But the 55's have the ring around Mercury's head. I just painted over the ring because I like the look of the 54's better.

I made these from a set of stainless steel 16" (moon type) disc purchased on E-bay for less than $100. Pressed the two beads, machined a aluminum center cap, polish and paint.

    cool thread,
I've always dug the full wheel cover and white wall look,
the other day I pulled a pair of L78-15s and Ford truck rims out of the pile
and with a little elbow grease stretched the tires over the rims,
pulled the big dirt track tires off the roadster and bolted the white walls on,
only had two full covers laying around so I put one on each side
    and snapped a couple pictures.
not sure which I like best but,
it will be getting white walls and full wheel covers all around.

  28. I just picked these up, I guess not technically full wheel covers but with hubcaps they fully cover the wheel
