This car, sans the serious rust.

Has since been painted, which I like better. But I sure drove it a lot more when it looked like this. ^ There's just something about bombing around with a crappy looking, glass-pack exhaust, beater that you can't get with mile deep paint.

Actually I did the indoor show stuff for a couple of years so I do know how little you get to enjoy the car other than it representing additional work and expense necessary to keep it in competition. Just not my cup of tea. Those cars are nice to look at but useless in my humble opinion regardless of their history. Clueless? Not completely but thanks for the comment..
What do you have that`s useless??

Patina is Patina, doesn't matter what i think it is or anybody else.
    It is what it is.
    It's overused and misunderstood.

My idea of patina is that it has to NATURALLY OCCUR FROM USE. Not neglect.
Rock chips, blued headers, arm scum along the lower window edge, worn seats, heel wear in the carpet, small dents... That's patina.

Rusted neglected shit, is just rusted neglected shit.

I can understand that! For instance, we weren't trying to make the '63 look crappy. It came that way, the idea is to make it look better, and I think some really low buck guys can easily view patina as a mockery of their work, especially if someone is purposely pouring acid on a straight 57 chevy pickup from CA with the wrap around back window to make rust & make it look low buck when it really isn't. No offense to any of you who own a truck that fits this description, I respect everyone's personal ride and taste!!

1951 Nash been all it life in SoCal & AZ. Faded factory paint, scrached bumpers, seat upholstery coming apart (now covered by blanket, later to be re-upholstered)
Don't think I ever going to paint it over. It is original only once...

  24. I've always loved the cars that come from down south with the burned out paint. Rust holes and cracking bondo look pretty tacky though. My B'ville is from oklahoma, so it was solid enough, but there was some old bondo on both sides of the upper quarters over some small dents that was looking pretty nasty. So I painted it like you see. Probly gonna scallop the roof this summer. Maybe some lace or panels too.
I totally agree that beaters are way more fun to drive. No worries about door dings or general wear and tear. Just get in and drive...

For now she is in her natural state. I would call it natural "patina". I will probably get all of the mechanicals going and drive it like this until she can get a real paint job.

cuz all it takes is this. Lets not mention the time or the money involved. That's for sure.

  30. The five five is OK but I really like the coupe.

Django the '36 is the one you grew up with isn't it? Your dad's car?
