Technical What's this fan part?

    This fan setup is exactly what i'm needing for an AV8 with my '40 engine. What is that hub off of the the fan is bolted to in this picture? Thanks VD fan.jpg

    Shortened generator that originally held a fan, 37-39 v-8 Ford..

    Seb's right. Remove housing, drastically shorten armature.

You can take just about any 34 - 39 generator, remove the center portion (even better, just make a shortened center case piece - like 1" or so), then cut up the original armature (or make a new shaft) and now you have a fan idler. I made my own as a teen ager - about 40 years ago . . . exactly how I did it.

    In the picture shown, it appears they're using a 34 or so fan, with a home-made extension. The other approach is to find a 32 fan - which has a long extension . . . but they tend to cost hundreds of dollars - cause they're another one year only part - '32'! LOL
