I have a 1964 issue of Hotrod magazine with what I think is that Mantaray vehicle on the cover. Its pretty cool seeing all the old hotrod parts ads.

  4. It's a no-brainer for me. [did I really say that?] Right there at the top of my mental list of cars-to-own-before-I-die is the 35 Hupmobile coupe. It's a 3 window and they're scarce as hens teeth. There was one on the cover of Street Rodder magazine about 15 years ago......fuckin blew me away! This is the only photo I have of one and it's not very good. I love the oval headlights in these things..

A Vauxhall station wagon. I don't remember the year but it looked like a miniture 50's American car. I wanted to put a Buick 231 and set it up gasser style with a straight axle front and raised up in the back. I wanted to paint it metallic red and name it the VauxhAULLer.

I've always had a morbid fascination with hearses. You just have to imagine one black as sin, purple crush velvet interior, laid on the ground with injected flame throwers.

Frank, we had a 59 Vauxhall station wagon in the early 60s when I was a kid. With eight people in our family, it was pretty comical to watch us get in and out of it. Our neighbors a few doors down had a 4 dr sedan of the same vintage.

It would never start on its own. We had to all get behind it to push start it. And the brakes were so bad, my mom usually had to smack a curb to get it stopped. And it was less than five years old at the time.

We replaced it with a 58 Ford Country Sedan wagon, and that was a roadtrip car. If I could find another one, I'd buy it. Not too many people like the 58 Fords, but I do, especially the Country Sedan.

Saab Sonnet. They're as wide, flat, and smooth on the bottom as they are on top. The idea of streamlining the underside of a vehicle has fascinated me ever since Smokey Yunick claimed that was the real secret to his 66 Chevelle that was banned from the Daytona 500. NASCAR claimed it was a "scale model" downsized body, Smokey claimed it was just careful air management under the sheetmetal.

  14. I get 36-42 with a Saturn that has a 5 speed, It's like a friggin caddy compared to a Geo.

A cab forward jeep was the first one I can remember getting goofy for.

  15. I Think I know where a Unimog is in WA if somebody REALLY want's one.

Pinto... I always wanted to get one and make a Conv. out of it.

Oh, and I want my old VW Scirocco back, that car was a blast.

If you count the Diamond T's and Ford COE's as nomal, then the DeSoto Suburban's (4 doors, 3 seats,140" wheelbase, roof rack, fake wood interior)I've had must be the strangest things that keep following me home (motorcycles not included)).

I know its a new car, but dammit I really want a brand new Mini Cooper S with the John Cooper Works package on it. Its like driving a REALLY fast golf cart. Hell, I'd take an original Mini from the 60's with the same package, but I'd love a new one.

I'm told they're real common in Europe and Asia but I've never seen one here in the US. I only learned about them from jerkin' off to a Hemmings Motor News.
The rest of that fantasy is going on an extended car-camping trip in some really remote area, like Mongolia, me and my Unimog

My Opel Manta B from '76... I do not exactly know why, but I love it!
People in Germany think it's a "Mullet Car" Maybe that's the reason! It's the German Camaro/Firebird. ;-)

Where the hell were all you Morris Minor fans when I was selling my car way back when? LOL . . . I'm sure once the Buick sells for peanuts there'll be a whole string of "WTB: Any Buick with 215" posts. :) Figures.
