whats the latest brakes that can be used on a 46 ford or an A axle? for instance could you use 67-72 F100 drum brakes on either axle?

How about '53 F100 brakes? I've got a customer that was gonna throw a set away. I convinced him I might need to have those. Along with the brakes, I'mm also getting his original steering box! Freebie, Freebie, Zero, Zip, Nadda...

  3. 56 is the last year for the backing plates you need. The hubs and drums and shoes are they same up 'til 66. Pete those 53 brakes will be fine with a bearing change, look in the Tech-o-matic files for all your answers.

Thanks. I'm gonna use 'em on my '35 axle. Maybe my bucket will actually stop without having to downshift like mad!

I fit 59 brakes and spindles to a 40 axle...

Had to ream the kingpin hole a bit, grind a new slot for the pins and tweak a bit of positive caster into the axle..

I was hoping some 70 F100 spindles would go on a 46 axle, but I guess not.
while were on the subject can anybody identify this axle? it seems to have chevy bolt pattern.

Looks like early-Chevy truck, but I'm going on memory - don't have one anymore. Mine was 41-46 & looked pretty much just like that...
