Whats the best way to mount leaf spring on wishbones??

    [​IMG]hey, i have split wish bones on my i beam axle, and i got mount my leaf spring on it, ive seen abunch of different ways, whats the best?

    The best way, simply because its the factory way for your axle, and I'd bet the cheapest...would be to heat and bend the original mounts back into alignment and then reuse the front mounted spring.

    A more stylish approach would be to replace the perch bolts with the style that mount a custom length spring above the axle like the early cars...or you can put perch pins into the bones and mount a spring behind the axle if you have the clearance to do it.
    Looks wise, these two alternatives are considered better.

    All will work and all will give a certain distinctive look to the car.

    You need to decide which look works best for you! :D

    Here's a set-up on a '40 axle using a 31" spring (model A )

    Looks to me like the bones need to be swapped side to side, there will be less bending if you chose to run the spring in front as per original.

    I concur with this observation. I'd also add that running them the way they where constructed to run would be cheaper on parts, and less headaches. Just an opinion.
