So either I've lost my mind, or my job has given me enough income to be stupid again, Take your pick. Whichever one is true I saw another 60 Special Fleetwood for sale on the other side of Michigan, and honestly its the first one I've seen for sale since I bought mine back in '09. Took a drive out to check it out and although its a bit rough, more-so then mine for sure, it surprisingly has a lot of trim / chrome that is better then mine, plus pieces like the wiper switch and other little trinket stuff. Most of all, the AC unit. True, the system will be updated & swapped to be R134-A compliant and possibly even a trunk mount or out of sight compressor. But just like keeping a Cadillac engine yet putting a modern transmission, I want it to LOOK like its supposed on the surface, but have better function & availability. The controls & switches still move free so there's a plus. Once most of it's been swapped around with my parts, I'll sell it so someone can have a project their willing to spend time on. I've gotten this far with just a driveway & a one car garage. As you can see, space is a premium! Stay tuned!
Ha, there was a bunch of stuff in there. A tree was starting to grow on the splash pan. Revolver butane lighter, whole metric ton of dirt & crap and a lit of stuff not even for this Cadillac. Cadillac Al, I'll let you know once I figure out what I'm all switching. I'm right by Novi. Sent from casino security.
So it has begun, bumper swap made a tear come to my eye. It's not a PERFECT bumper, but it's shiny. And I like shiny. Sent from casino security.
So, this happened. A lady, who's never driven before. Was being taught by her husband when she accidentally hit the gas and flew through the intersection by my house, went up an embankment across the street before cutting across, going through my neighbors driveway and T-bone hit the Fleetwood. Put it up on two wheels and slid it into my dads car and slid them both 4' over. And also knocked it into the garage which broke the beam and screwed the door up. What luck right? Could have been a lot worse. No one got hurt, and she hit the parts car instead of the keeper. Besides, the insurance should pay out on both vehicles and the garage. Dodged a bullet on the whole deal. Still sucks, but I would be buying a lottery ticket.
Wow! Make sure you get the insurance to pay for a proper fix on the garage, the adjuster won't know how to estimate that. See if you can get the Cad priced as parts. List individual parts that are ruined and their value - doors, trim, glass, etc. The parts are worth more than the whole, list it up and demand they pay, or find you another Fleetwood.
You guys are all correct. With the way we shuffle cars here depending on what we're driving, if that old heap wasn't there either dads Cadillac or his 64' Impala would of been hit with full force, or MY driving Fleetwood which would of devastated me. Or worse yet no cars at all in the driveway and hit the room of the house my Mom was in when it happened. With the way me and dad work on cars in the driveway, one of us or both of certainly been crushed. I WAS going to try to sell it as more of an complete car. But after the insurance stuff is settled, I'll be parting it out. Sent from casino security.
Well I was at work when it happened. So I had half a day to cool my head. But like everyone has said and the very clear fact, could of been MUCH worse. Sent from casino security.
