For me, It's a toss up. I love Dazed and Confused for the 70's vibe of cruising and starting of the summer with a BANG, and Two Lane Blacktop for the raw street-racing feel and the simple fact of driving across the U.S. just being free and burning up the road.

  5. Dazed & Confused. I've never heard of it ( I musta been walkabout..)

I dig the 'roll with it' screenplay of T.L.B, as well as the fairly tight editing. The director (Monte Hellman) was obviously a good conduit between related project parties, from the producers on down.
I dig the Time capsule- like opening sequence, and from then on the film never really eases up too much. Warren Oates leads the actors in getting good dramatic power from a low buck movie.

'Hot Rod' had tough cars but was cheesy and a lil' lame.

I remember Graffiti as an overly sentimental film with great cars and excellent cruise photography. Strong sense of time, both hour and era. Good lead actor tension. I have to see this one again.

T.L.B. feels like an era opening up- Graffiti like one closing down. Hmm.

Car as Star? The Naughty '72 Nova in Quentin Tarantino's 'Deathproof'. Incredible, Ultra violent head- on stunt. Saw Q.T. bragging that some cat had suffered a heart attack while watching this morally bankrupt muscle car murder flick. Written & directed by obviously insane sicko.

Depends on which movie relates closer to what you were doing at that time!

I personally like Hollywood Knights. Hell it has Project X in it.

Even though I have a relative that was in D and C.

I had to stitch my eyes open to finish TLB. Anyone want a "special" edition dvd?
American Graffiti 2 ranks higher in my book. D&C is entertaining at least.

Dazed has too many actors in it I can't stand. Worth watching though...

TLB is great but slow. I'd have to pick between A/G or Hollywood Knights. "I've had this taste in my mouth before!" hahaha

Dazed and Confused. That movie is full of good quotes and one liners.

  16. TLB is not for me......never saw Dazed and Confuzed, but damn near anything would be better than Two Lane Blacktop. Sorry, I just didn't get it.

I haven't seen Dazed & Confused, but you couldn't pay me to sit through TLB without a remote with fast forward in my hand.
How do you make a car movie boring.........................................watch and see.

TLB - It's an attitude thing, you had to be there to appreciate it, I ain't saying it's a good thing, you just had to be there.

Two Lane Blacktop had some epic moments. It was raw and real. Just the in car sounds alone give me chills.

That being said, I can only watch it every year or so.

I can sit through Dazed and Confused once a week.

Dazed is a better movie , i'll sit thru TLB just for the 55 , HK has some cool cars but is just way too cheesy , AG is still #1 in my book

"You gotta do what Randall PINK Floyd wants to do".
    "I hate that jerk".
"Mitchell, have you been drinking? Are you DRUNK?"

I think my answer is obvious. Even with the incorrect wheels on the T/A, I still relate more to Dazed and Confused.

But TLB did have some really good racing scenes.

Dazed and Confused was kinda cool, but I never really thought of it as a car movie at all.I own Two Lane Black Top and have watched it a bunch of times. But I usually just fast forward to the cool parts. The opening Street Racing Scene is one of the best.
