I got to see the ER at the VA in Kansas City today. I was working on cutting the old exhaust pipe off the frame on my '54 Dodge pickup with a die grinder equipped with a skinny wheel.

Things were going well until the hanger was cut in two and the whole exhaust lurched to the side and forced the wheel into my forearm. (I did have my safety glasses on, however)

The lady ER doctor called me a dumb ass and sewed up my arm and sent me to pharmacy for antibiotics and some goo to cover the 12 stitches. I've already got an IR reciprocating air saw coming from Amazon. I probably ought to find the guard for the die grinder, too.

I figure I'm violating the "pictures or it didn't happen" rule but there might be squeamish people following this thread.

    Hello,

In So Cal, there are plenty of hot rods and customs rolling around on the street. It seems like every weekend, there is some event going on for those enthusiasts. On Saturdays, of course, the Donut Derelicts (in Huntington Beach, CA) event has been going on forever and it seems like it is growing again. The atmosphere is quite mellow and everyone follows the rules about loud, noisy cars and activities. It is quite a show and tell…or in some cases, walk and ask.

The Cars and Coffee weekly events bring out some exotics as well as hot rods. Those events draw mostly current sports type cars as well as a bunch of hot rods with a few trucks thrown in the mix. The biggest complaint for the Cars and Coffee events is that the surrounding neighborhood usually controls the atmosphere. Early, loud noises from hot motors, means a shut down of the event, etc. It moves to another location and the same thing occurs…

There are always those that want to do squirrel moves with their cars. “Squirrel in a Mustang” has bad connotations in the internet automotive, public eye. That brings complaints, more complaints, and finally a total shut down of the events.

Sometimes, people with just cool cars and trucks want to go see the event for what it is worth. This truck was at the latest Cars and Coffee event in a beach side town and has been seen cruising around the So Cal area. Since the times have been adjusted to a later morning start and finish, there are more cars cruising around the neighborhoods later in the day.

The color of the truck matches the license plate…

I've been hard core cleaning my shop. We raced out of it (30x40) from 1992 to 2006. I then put an addition on in 2012 (26x34). I have returned things that friends loaned to us in 1992/93 (some don't even remember ever have owned them by now!!) to help with our racing effort (electric furnace, salamander heater, boring bar, valve grinder, seat grinder) and hauled out 3 pickup loads of scrap metal (things we "might need" some day) and after 2 solid weeks of work.....I saw some shop floor I haven't seen since 1992! So exciting.

Update: On what I saw today-I saw the inside of the VA clinic in Belton, MO. It has been 8 days since I cut my arm and it was time for the sutures to come out. They took them out!

It's not pretty but it doesn't hurt, does not appear infected, and this nurse called me a dumb ass, too. Your tax dollars at work.

saw a high end customized 50's Vette, and an International pickup that looked like it got dragged out of the barn for the first time in years.

Tucked the inventory and a few future projects away for the winter.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Only 2 OT vehicles in the bunch, well 3 if you count the hauler. There is a 1946 international pickup, 1962 Ford Falcon, 1950 Chevy Fleetline, 2 1955 Chevy 4 doors, a 64 Buick Wildcat convert, a 49 Ford 2/4 door, a 70 c10 and a 77 c10.

  29. Apparently not sitting and rotting. It runs and owner took it to shop to get it "fixed up to sell".
