I'm thinking this car was more along the lines of an SCCA type. Going by the Goodyear Blue Streaks and the none centered driver position . I agree the wheels ought to remain part of the whole car. It defiantly needs to be saved intact ; and put inside already.

If the owner is a collector of several cars, and cant manage to store this inside, makes you wonder what cars(stuff) he does have stored inside. Its a shame to see it setting outside.

Not a Devin. It looks more like an early Kellison as suggested by thirtytwo although the grille area is narrower and taller. I thought that it might be a La Dawri but the photos that I found of them don't match either. There were so many kit bodies available in the 50/60's that it was hard to keep up with them. I am sure that I have seen this body style before but so far I can't put a name to it.
And I am a little worried that the OP thought it was a dune buggy and was still thinking about parting it out until he was chastised here (even though he has now woken up). The first thing that should happen (after determining if it is actually for sale) is for some research to be done as to its origins. Then it should go to someone who will restore it correctly.

    paging @Gary Reynolds ...

Also ... anyone figure out what it was yet ? Ladawri Daytona .... highly modified I'd say. What's the back look like ? Can you jump the fence again ? :)

Change the thread title maybe. Steve Reyes (NHRA official photographer for 40 plus years) still a HAMB'er ?

  11. I know that it's just a coincidence, but this car and Dean Moon's "Moonbeam" both had 4 wheel coil over suspension, though this car looks to have an IFS, and both ran the very same wheel combination.
If you have the new Hop Up there's a feature on Moonbeam and shows it with the mags instead of the moon discs.

  12. That thing could have an old Logghe chassis under it ... picture big zoomies coming out of the cut out side panels on the body. Like this >>>
    logghe.jpg
    for that >>> logghe2.jpg

Were there rules changes pre '67 .... forcing engine placement forward ? Anyone ? This thing may have been an over axle seat prior to this .... where are all the old grizzled nitro smiling NHRA dudes at ?

    Michigander call out !

A/Modified Sports Class had rear seat set up. Dragster with sports car body. Think pre-Funny Car.

Joe Lunati's class is shown below for example's sake ... 1964-66. Street Eliminator had several classifications under their show.

I don't think its the Pappy Ellis car. Heres the car I was thinking of. Same wheels, hood scoop is different. From Hot Rods 1960 US Nats coverage, listed as Ron Loghe sic (its almost certainly Ron Logghe) from Detroit. Peanut hole halis, same nose, same exhaust cutout, same headlights. For my money, this is the same car, and if it is it has some pretty serious history.

And the OP is in Mount Clements MI., 6.4 miles from Logghe Stamping Co. in Fraser MI. Anyone wanna bet that this car is located in the back lot at Logghes?

Id say there is a pretty high probability that is the same car...good memory George !

The scoop looks like it was done quickly before the race for tech.. , so it was probably not the final product

Now that you figured out what kinda dune buggy it is should fetch a pretty penny for sure!

Good hit, George. (as usual) This is a serious find. Hope the offer to 'part it out' isn't too tempting...

(I recall discovering chickens running around loose next door...nobody was doin' nuthin' wit' 'em...)
