yup chrome steel slots, you will have the only set at any show, most people are not cool enough to run these, they scream 60's ........ with narrow whitewalls... put a set of them on your car and you will be the coolest guy on the block.....

Unless you were mounting drag slicks to them, anything wider than 6" isn't really period correct for the early 60's. Also, 14" wheels were the hot lick at the time. Stuffing the widest wheel possible into a car, at a minimum of 15", is a modern interpretation.

I love the idea of the chrome slots and thin whitewall tires, or chrome OE/chrome reverse, or Astro Supreme wheels, I even like the idea of Foresight Venture mags, Fenton Hawks, or two piece Rader wheels, if you could find some in good shape. I am also a fan of Keystone Kustomag wheels (not Klassics). All cool period correct choices that will set your car apart from the 0ff-the-shelf wheel'd cars.

Magnum 500's can be had in different sizes and look good on all Ford and Mercury products.

Chrome reverse, Chrysler or Packard wires, Magnum 500's with MERCURY HEAD centers, or the ol' black steelies with chrome acorns and no center caps, in that order. 15 inchers are a lot easier to get tires for, IMHO.

  14. Looks like I gotta post something in the photoshop thread
Gonna take a pic of my car ( with the stupid wheels and a list of what you guys have suggested.

I like the slots and the supremes
Also the torque thrust wheels but might be to muscle car / hot rod for a ‘ vert

I found a few sets of steel slots over the years and just assumed they where cheap aluminum kidney knock offs

A car that big needs a set of 22's!!!! and some really thump'in sub wooferz. J/K:p

It DOES need a set of 16's though. They will help fill up the wheel wells and there is still a fair choice of sizes available. (unlike 15's and 14's) 16" rims sizes will be no problem either.
Torque Thrusts look good on just about anything('sept a Honda) Chrome reverse if you like to polish.

It's not a 3/4 ton truck or a pre-1950 car so it absolutely does NOT need 16" wheels.

I can't add any more suggestions for the wheels. But only bowie post #19 is thinking like me for the tires. He said thin Redwalls. I remember them as Redlines. But I agree that it would be a nice accent with the red and white color scheme... with whatever wheels you choose. And they're pure 60s.

I always thought the red line tires gave a car a nice street performance look without going overboard.

I vote for chrome reverse with or without baby moons. I got a set of the chrome slots for cheap in the early '70's, hated them, hated the way they looked, hated cleaning them, but sounds like I'm in the minority on them, but that's OK!

  30. Wheels are a sensitive topic on here it seems like.. Wheel choices are very personal. We all have different opinions as to what we like. Find a set you like, put them on and run 'em.
