So, by simple fact im 27... I have for the past few years liked a bigger wheel... 16s 17s 20s.... so I just figured I would buy a set of 5 star wheels by one of the few vendors that make them... but as of late. my taste has changed to a more "classic" hot rod look. The truck will be a semi gloss black. I had even thought about the Radirs with Wide Whites. or just a nice smooth steel wheel with wide whites. But I am so new to this old school thinking... I wanted you guys to school me... What would look at home on a mid 60s truck.. look aggressive enough and still have a modern new edge to it. dunno.. Teach me o Great ones! I will try and roll the truck out tomorrow and take a pic. gotta hook up the drag link and tie rod.
I like torque thrust alot...but only in a 17 18 20...other than those they dont look right to me... I have a set of Cruiser Alloy Canyons on my f150 supercrew. Which I had contemplated getting for my 65 with some wide whites on it.
you think? What do those run? by the way that wheel I just posted in a 16 by 8.5 was 123 Look great on my supercrew. they are similar to the radirs.....kinda.... ok not so much.
What about 16 17 18 inch steel wheels painted with a modern white wall performance tire? there was a guy on here who had a 1966 chevy c19 beige with some larger red steelies. I just saw it in the post your truck or something thread. I ll look again.
Yeah the Radirs Tri Ribbs are nice.I like the look of the satin center I think the biggest size Radirs are 15 inch
Mine were $225 each, almost 10 years ago. Not sure now. Check out their website.http://www.radirwheels.com/. Here they are on my '65 Chevelle.
your going to spend about the same amount of money weather you go with whites or rims, wide whites are expensive as balls. id go with flake steelies and whites though
I dont think you can go wrong with some torq thrusts. Have you looked into Halibrands (I think there still around) ET's, and PS Engineering, out of Torrance, CA
I think the TT II's are way over done. Ive been to car shows where it seems like they issued them at the gate for every ride.
as far as style goes, i'm trying to stay within a few years of my truck (1964). i recommend buying a few mags from '65 and see what folks were doing back then. it helped me out a lot as far as choosing what certain parts to look for. i'm going with a chrome O.E. wheel.
wheels like any other accessory serve to accentuate what is already there so lets see some pic of your truck as it sits now or as you want it to sit then it will be easier to assist with wheel choices.
chrome steelies with spiders,,fog in some candy paint behind the middle circular area behind the spider,,,,with www's..(i hate skinny whites,,,guess i would have been one of those stubborn guys that refused to switch to the skinny whites,,hahhaha),,
I no longer have this bed. I have a styleside. This picture was the day I bought it. as it sat at the guys taxidermy shop. This is the color and look Im going for only not that low. It will ride at factory height for awhile.which on my truck isnt very high for some reason... some guys f100s look like four by fours... my father in laws 61 sits tall. and a guy in towns 65 sits really tall compared to mine. but all the suspension is stock? dunno.
LOL!!! NO SHIT!!! i love the looks of them, but if you go to a "anyones welcome" show, 800 cars there, 450 of them will have them !!!!!
another reason i dont want them.... I know not many people have those cruiser alloy wheels but, dunno if they would look right.
those cruisers are totally NOT what this message board is about! this is a TRADIONAL hot rod and custom board! so, i would vote no on them! here is a google search for your spider caps question....shows lots of diff cars/trucks with them! http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4SUNA_enUS241US241&q=spider%20caps&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
point taken! lol. Thanks for the link... I have seen those but didnt know thats what you called them.
