I was 15 and one of the few kids driving his own car to school. It had a 10 horsepower sidevalve 4 cylinder. I figured that was 1 hp per person. So I squeezed 10 people in on my way to s hool.

  5. My absolute pride and joy. This car occupied more of my thoughts and time than damn near anything else in my teenage years. 350, 4 barrel, headers, M21, 4.11s in a 10 bolt that had a habit of breaking. Finally painted it when I was 20. "Granada Gold'', black interior, console. JPEG_20170203_072415_-2111999668.jpg

  6. My ride back in high school was a 55 chevy{even though it was a 4 door}It had the 283 motor that been bored out 30 over along with a 4 speed trans. I remember the last day of school, I had the car full of friends and we were drinking pulling out of the high school parking lot. The headliner was coming down and my drunk friends tore it down and threw it out the window in front of the teachers in front of the school. Bruce.

I had a 54 Ford that died in my junior year then grabbed 60 Chevy Bel Air post.
It had a 283, 3 on the tree with dual exhaust, lake plugs, gauges and my tach on the dash.
Jacked up the front end,put on some 57 Plymouth wheel covers and thought it was bad ass.
That's the car I learned to put a clutch and trans in, the 1-2 shifts were hit or miss under power!
Less than a year after graduation I was in a new GTO.Good times.

Senior year, 1977 took ownership of my Dads 1970 Dodge Charger. B5 blue, 318, headers, 4 barrel and a shift kit. Dad pined over the 440 R/T on the showroom floor in 1970, but the threat of gas prices to be made him change his mind and settle for the 318. As soon as I was able to pay the insurance and gas for it I took ownership. Yeah, one of the ones I wish I had back......

  11. Still have my first car, bought with 3 years worth of night dishwashing (restaurant) money- '64 Malibu, 283 powerpack and 4 speed. Didn't know how to drive a stick but loved the car. Bucked and lurched the whole way home- sure am glad Mom talked me into/encouraged that I'd get the hang of the clutch. Didn't buy a car with one of those new fangled "shiftless" transmissions for more than 25 years after that and still won't given the option.
Also in high school I had a '72 Camino, 350/Muncie 3 speed and a '56 Chevy pickup 427/hemi 4 speed (bought it that way and man was that a neat setup- A Dapt O bellhousing)

I was basically "Eric" from "That 70's Show" except I had ET's, air shocks and Good Year GTs.

Sophomore year, first car was a black 61 Impala four door hardtop, 348/3 speed.
Couldn't afford a car AND a camera so no photos.
Junior and senior years had this 57 BelAir, 283/4speed.

  18. '59 Chevy Bel Air two-door sedan. 283 and a two-speed Powerglide. Friends called it everything from The Batmobile to PT-109. Sure wish I still had it.

  19. The class of 1972. I had a 38 Chevrolet and a 68 vette. I eventually had to sell the coupe to finance my 34 delivery build. I still have the corvette and delivery. Ron... 20170706_192030.jpg

  20. 1966 Ford F-100 long bed, it had a 390 2bbl, 3speed transmission with a completely worn out Hurst floor shift conversion. Even though it was totally worn out, that old 390 ran wayyy too good for my 16 year old ass! My parents only let me buy it ($110 bucks!) because they never thought I would get it running!
